Me too! Subscribed! I love this thread. I'm always amazed at peoples ingenuity & creative imagination not to mention these ideas are thrifty. Saving money is always an attraction for me as long as it doesn't do any damage to the car.

I liked the cut a rubber mat and put it under the rear seat" idea for soundproofing. I used an old floor mat from a Minivan. Worked great. Some soundproofing, noticeable but not earth shattering. Whaddya want for free?

taped off the valve stem with some masking tape, poped out the center cap..sanded it lightly with 600 grit sand paper cleaned throughly with some windex, picked up some appliance paint/epoxy for 7.99 at the local hardware store. sprayed it in a thick base coat follwed by another thin coat, sprayed some cheapo spray clear coat once it was dry and wah lah.

appliance paint is key because the white wont look dull and its less likely to chip since it is an epoxy.

white s-lites are ****, i wish my car had came with them from the factory, but these came out looking factory smooth and shiney..a few small blemishs from the old curb rash but they are just for the winter so who cares

Well, I am catching on to the idea. I plastidipped the grey outside part of the tac yesterday. i like it. wife does not. also black vinyl over the orange and red side markers. i like it. plasti dipped the a/c rings and the speedo but took it off the speedo, it was kind of bubbly. also put some cork board i had from an old dart board under the plastic boot deal for sound. it's not real loud. hello.

i want to try and vinyl wrap my hl rings in pw and also considering trying to vinyl pw the 3 piece dash..and perhaps door parts down the road.. anyone done that? i could use some help on the vinyl but i am getting the idea from other sites.

does anyone know if the headlights should be removed to do the vinyl??? ty

I'm not sure if this is really a 'mod' or not, but you can take the back headrests out and put them on the front seats... It's a different look for free...just make sure you put them up a notch, cuz otherwise you're looking at serious whiplash in an accident.

New cheapskate mods

I closed in the airbox with aluminium plate after installing the K&N Typhoon, then extended the "front" air intake with a silicone 45 bend and hose clamp. Finished it off with a little foam door seal along the top edge. Cost- maybe $20 total.

I made the radiator air diverter from a rubbermaid cuttlery tray with some fancy cutting and sanding for a perfect fit. The intent is to force more air up into the above mentioned airbox pipe. Cost-$3

The door bin lights were made from motorcycle light pods. They are clusters of coloured LEDs mounted in a chrome housing. Mounted with 3M double sided trim tape and wired in to the footwell lights which also have green LEDs in them. This was pushing the budget at $16 cost.

Cool work there!

Did someone pay you to take the cuttlery tray?

So you're redirecting air from the radiator to feed the intake? Are you checking your H20 temps? Seems that could be an issue in hotter weather.

No difference at all, drove all day Saturday which was around 30 degrees with no problems. I had thought of that so was watching for any changes.
Thanks for the heads up.

Where'd you get the silicone bend? Autozone?

I was gonna do this same thing with diamond plate but that stuff's expensive. I used a sheet of stainless steel (6"x12", $7.99) and bent it a couple times to fit perfectly on the top of the stock airbox. I used a couple self tapping screws, a piece of PVC hose (2ft@$1.39) split down the middle and laid on top. $10 and a sliced finger later, it's all good.
