R50/53 Dorky cheapskate modification
No problem guys . At the end of the day it is all about making your car better even if you do it yourself. I've seen where we have been the " inspiration " for a number of items before but only spoke up here to help improve what I saw as a minor mistake. Hell we even had a former dealer of ours make a direct copy of the air diverter and add it to his product selection which seems to me to be a bit in the cheesy side when compared to a end user working away in his home shop. Enjoy and keep the " thrifty " ideas coming.

These mods are great guys, thanks for making me smile!
IamPullied: I've seen in the British Mini magazine where someone got an extra Cooper S set of letters and made a "PROPER S". Many permutations available, I'd guess, but "OOPS" implies a mistake - which one can only make by NOT having a Mini.
It's not a full conversion, but I did convert the bulbs to LEDs.
Autozone carries LED bulbs that plug directly into your brake light bulb socket. Astoundingly bright and definitely a crisper look to them!

Mini Under Bonnet Eyes, Painted.......
Had the paint.
Had the clear coat.
Had the masking tape.
Had the time......rebuilt my power steering pump's cooling fan while waiting for the paint to dry......

Well, there's my dorky cheapskate trailer... purchased for $150, upgraded bearings/wheels/tires to C load rating, spray-bombed to better match my Mini, added a trailer roof rack for 3 bikes (or the PittStopMINI Dragon Draggin' pinewood Mini track!). Can't argue with a 32 cubic foot trunk! It's also run the Dragon - successfully - at a fairly respectable speed.
LOL thanks.
Originally the guy who owned the MINI in stock form had mice problems. He used some sort of glue to seal in a piece of diamond sheet grid screen to keep them out. When I removed the screen and glue I had some sanding to do, then decided to just paint the area with red paint...
Just taped off the area ( including inside of duct with masking tape and spray away.

I suspected you did something like that! I found some red decal material lying around, cut it up and used that. Yours looks better... out with the Fusion rattle can and masking tape! Nicely done...
I thought about painting the rim around the shift boot but... I bought some red vinyl at an auto & marine upholstery shop to redo the arm rests on my '05 chili red, and the guy cut off some scrap ( and threw it in the trash ) from the end before cutting my piece. Not being too proud I asked if I could have the scrap from the trash. " YES " he said , as in free. That scrap was enough to do the shift boot, the e-brake boot and the shift rim. I haven't even touched the piece I bought yet. He only charged me $5 for a one foot by five foot piece of heavy grade vinyl. I also spent $5 for a piece of Padauk which is a red colored wood which I used to make my custom shift **** and e-brake handle. Now I'm off to Lowes to get some vinyl plugs. By the way, the black switch is for the garage door opener and the red one is for fog lights. The Jacks on the pillers were $0 and I'll save them for another post.
Here is a better picture of the pillars. I was going to unveil them on the Union Jackification thread but this thread is as good a place as any. The attachment is the UJ jpg I use. I insert it in a word document and then enlarge it ( drag the corner of the pic ) until it's the size I need and then I print it. That gives me a full size template to work from. The pillar was about 12.5" by 8.5".
The colors are Royal blue and Intermediate red.

bionicback awesome job on the pillars!
I think I'm going to take advantage of the template idea on a few things.
BTW don't worry about the double posts to much (you can't delete but you can edit it down to be non distracting), but if you want you can tap the

some of the ideas here are great, and since i'm trying to improve the look of my mini on the cheap while i spend big money on keeping her running reliably, i like cheap dorky mods.
anyway, my contribution, here goes. as a result of this, i often joke with my friends that i might own the only M-Technik mini in the world.

the emblem on my steering wheel fell off, and i thought that looked good. 82mm diameter size, exact same size as the roundel that you find on the hood of most BMWs, i just put it on a steering wheel instead of a hood. came in a package for $20 shipped with two of these roundel replacers, an ///-power badge, and an ///M5 badge. i figure if i can sell the parts that i don't use, i can end up with a net cost of zero, and it adds a unique look to my mini while reminding everyone about the BMW that lies within.
