R50/53 hmmm... no keyhole on passenger door or hatch
Ok, I don't always open the car door for the wife since we've been married....ok I sometimes open the car door for the wife since we've been married..... well I occasionally open the car door for the wife since we've been married.... once in a while??? Ok Ok I don't open the car door for the wife since we've been married. But really I'm not a bad husband, every other door (except for the automatic ones, those she usually opens for me) we come to I open for her.....
It looks like this turned into an "off-topic" topic!
I was just hoping someone could tell me if BMW/MINI was being cheap by not putting key-locks on the passenger door and hatchback, or if this is the trend with new cars now ???
On a similar thread, do you think the interior and/or exterior "door-opening" handles are connected to the actual "opening" mechanism, or is this electronic too ? ... As in, or kind of like, the gas pedal not being physically connected to the throttle?
I wonder on this, because as we all know, if the door is locked, you have to pull the interior handle twice to open.

Before this topic gets too beat up with women's rights and correct etiquette. This is one of the little details that is exactly the same as my Classic MKI Mini Cooper. Key lock on drivers door only.

Thanks JohnW for bringing the thread back on topic! 'though I doubt that most will notice, given that the return is buried down here on pg. 2

This is a trend of new passenger cars. I rent a different car every Monday and all the new cars do not have the key lock on the passenger side. I started noticing this about four months ago.

For the love of...can someone answer the damn question about the door latches?

>>Say my husband wants to be a gentleman and unlock the door for me using the valet key.... oh, I forgot. Men don't do that anymore.
This husband still does it....Maybe you should suggest it to him.
