My 05' w/ 1500 miles breaks down last night...

Hi, All:

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this post, but I'll post it anyway.

Last night after coming home from a quick bite to eat, I was stopped at a red light. After the light turned green, I proceeded to shift into first and take off when the car stalled. Thinking I accidently stalled it (which I virtually never do), I quickly tried to start it again, but no such luck. So, I took the key out, put it back in, nothing. It would crank, but it wouldn't start. So, we put the four way flashers on and called the MINI roadside line. She took down the information and said 90 minutes or less for the truck (they had to come from Tampa).

Anyway, I tried muliple times to start it while we were sitting there for 2 hours. It would sometimes start, but wouldn't run for more than a second or two. My only "mods" related to the engine are the colder spark plugs, different plug wires (Kingsborne), and the 15% Alta pulley. Any idea what this could be? My best guess is something fuel-related or some sort of sensor possibly? I'm not too happy after 1,500 miles....

Best Regards,
-Justyn

I just don't understand modifying a car when it's barely broken in. It may not be the problem but why give MINI even the chance to try and say it is and then wiggle out of the warranty claim. People need to realize this is a business, the warranty is a contract, they don't want to be in breach of their part of the contract and protect themselves better. IMO.

Are the Check/Service engine lights on?

since you have done modifications to the ignition, I'd check the plug wires and spark plugs first.

Your pulley is unlikely to cause ignition problems. . .

The Service engine soon light comes on when I turn the key to the on position- I can't remember if this is normal or not when I crank the car. I checked the plug wires - they are fine. Thanks,-J
