How long does it take before a dealer gets a production number. I joined the wait list for a MCS in early September. I spoke with my dealer last Monday and he said my order was ready to go in. I asked him to call me with a production number when he got one. I haven't heard from him yet. How long does it take before the dealer gets a production number to give you. I don't want to pester him, but I want a production number so I can join the owners' lounge on MiniUSA.com

I just did this so I should know.

My dealer in San Antonio ordered mine last week and I got my Prod. # like a day later.

Just wait, you'll get it real quick.

If he truly has entered the order you ought to be able to get it the next day. If he hasn't entered it yet and since it has been since September that is a possibility...

I place my deposit down in Novemeber(02), but the dealer did not enter my order until this month (feb03). I got my production the next day. Along with an email from miniusa.com

It's better if you just sit back and try to relax...MINI has put billions of dollars into the research and development of making this part of your ordeal seem like a neverending process...but your day will come and it'll be worth it!

I guess it depends where your dealer is located, and their allocation.

I left my deposit on 2/4/03 and got my production number on the spot, giving me access to the Owner's Lounge.

But I never received an email from MINIUSA.

See my sig line (for a quick rundown of time/dates).

If you have no production number, you haven't placed an order yet! Sometime's dealers call it putting in your order, however it is merely a "wait-list" they entered you on. Don't be fooled.

I was on the wait-list for 8 months before my order went in. Actually that's much sooner that I thougt. I was told the list was over 1000 places long back in March 02. I guestimated a 18-24 month wait. 8 months was a shock! I guess with the poor economy, many people had to back out. On 12/5 I placed the order and 12/6 I got the production number.

>>How long does it take before a dealer gets a production number.

My order went in right away in mid-November, but I didn't get an email from BMW or a call from my Motoring Advisor. Finally, I asked here on MCOL about 3 weeks ago and got advice as to how to get the number. I've had to be on top of things from the beginning and have frankly been a little disappointed about that.

However, I'm planning to love my car SO much that all of that wil just sort of fade away....

I'll have her next week.

Good luck and welcome.

I had a rough spot in trying to put in my down payment today ( detailed in "taking the plunge" posts, but hopefully tomorrow will be the day. My dealer said I would be entered in the system in two weeks and am looking at a May or June delivery.
Can't wait! (but know I have to)....
Hope all you lucky folks taking delivery soon have a tremendous motoring experience....I know I'm looking forward to mine.

Jim

Hector,
How did you order a car from the dealer in San Antonio? We've been calling for several weeks and they say they are not open yet. In fact, they said on Monday that they may be open next week? Went down yesterday, the 1st, and got the same "yada, yada come back when we're open"
