Does interior Surface Anthracite change color of down tubes?

Does the Interior Surface Anthracite option ($0 upcharge) change the color of down tubes?

It doesn't appear to on MINIUSA in the Build your own applet but almost every photo I've seen lately where the owner states Anthracite the down tubes look anthracite as well.

Do they stay the light gray (silver) color or come anthracite with this option?

Thanks-
Randy

Randy,

Yup, the downtubes match the anthracite dash and door surround "rings" on my '05 MCS.

same here... the down tubes aren't glossy like the dash/door pieces, but they're anthracite alright. If you look at the center door pieces vs the outer ring, you can kinda see:

sorry about the sunlight... but hopefully the pic will help

This is the exact reason I went with anthracite instead of the body colored dash. The downtubes look very nice in anthracite. And add the anthracite headliner and chrome, and IMHO you've got hands down the nicest looking interior combination available. The factory armrest is also anthracite. I just wish the other parts--the stalk, HK speaker screens, etc. came in anthracite.

I just wish the tach rim were anthracite as well, the steering wheel and stalks do not bother me, but the tach drives me nutz. Anybody have an after market on that looks different?

Me too, I was really dissapointed to see the tach cluster and speaker surrounds staying in the grey color. But then an all anthracite car may have been too dark. Oh well I can always set aside some time with some spray paint if I get bored.

Yea, the downtubes are anthracite, but with the headliner in anthracite, it really makes the piece surrounding the tach and the pieces on the steering wheel look a little out of place. Some say it adds contrast, but I'd like to see it all in anthracite.

You could always go chrome:

Yeah, chrome looks great with the anthracite! I've seen aftermarket anthracite tach rings (Can't for the life of me remember who sells them), but I still think the chrome looks better. Agree about the steering wheel--would be nice if there was an aftermarket solution for that too.

I'm going to paint my tach ring

I don't trust myself on the steering wheel yet though, maybe after a little more paint experience.

I wish I had the extra $$ for the Anthracite headliner!

There is a new development. 2006 cars ordered with the Piano Black dash option come from the factory with anthracite tach rings. It might be possible to order an OEM anthracite tach ring part in the future. Read this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=55425

I was also planning to paint (described here: http://home.comcast.net/%7Esfconnell...hring/home.htm), but now I'll wait to see what happens with OEM part availability.

I wondered about that... even asked at the dealer but they didn't know yet because they hadn't seen a single Piano Black.

Word. I'll just pick one of those up the day I pick up my 06
