What color has its days numbered?

the first to go was velvet red, then silk green. inid blue, solid gold... history. electric blue, jet black... gone.

makes me wonder... what color has one foor in the casket? i personally think purple haze's days are numbered. it's a nice color, not for me, but from what i hear, sales are slow on purple haze.

what do you think? what color is next?

Like Gold I truly think purple will be the shortest lived colour of MINIs. Nice thing is, it makes it a very rare MINI and a true collectors car.

Isn't Liquid Yellow next? (to be replaced by yet another shade of gray?)

I want that glo-in-the-dark green that you can get on a Lotus Elise (Krypton Green)

Look at the colors available from Lotus and see what MINI should be doing.

I checked the colors on the Elise. Pretty nice. I don't understand the massive attraction of gray, silver, beige, white and other boring colors. Drive through the average new car lot and the colors make you think you're picking out a casket.

Those lotus colors are great.

Except maybe that bronze, yuk.
The Racing Green is what I think it should be and wanted that for my MINI, but when I saw the MINI BRG in person I changed my mind.
I wish MINI would get a bit more adventerous with the colors, and offer all their colors on every model. I really loved the Cool Blue and the Hot Orange but had no need or interest in a convertible and almost didn't order at all because none of the color options in the MCS just grabbed me. What's the reasoning behind limiting the colors I wonder.
I personally love the PH, but agree that it will probably be the next to go.

Agreed - new shades for the revised 07 car is a high probability.

I second that! And if they really want to be fun, let us mix and match any body color to any roof color!

MINI does seem to love the color blue: Electric, Indi, Hyper, Space, Cool, Purple Haze and even Astro Black all seem to be among the shades of the blue pallette. How 'bout bringing out some more wild shades of this enchanting color?

One of my all time favourite shades of blue is Ford's 1969 color Gulfstream Aqua. Here's a Mach 1 in that scheme:

Remember the first time you saw a Nassau Blue Corvette. It's another classic blue:

I understand that they offer Dupont Chromalusion colorchange in the UK... At a 25K pound up charge!

I frankly am overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of Gray/Silver. Pure Silver, Dark Silver, Royal Gray. Do we honestly need 4 shades of Gray?

Blue is running a close second. Hyper Blue, Space Blue, Purple Haze (OK it is purple but has a strong blue undertone). That is three choices.

Red is a close third Chili Red and Solar Red.

What is needed would be a flourescent neon orange or Normal white. (I'm not a fan of the pepper white) or a nice metal flake copper.

Picture a trick metallic white like Cadillac "White Diamond" with an EB roof and stripes . . . Killer.

You can get real white on a Cadillac truck and not a MINI . . .

Amazing . . .

I saw this list of sales figures by color on MINI2. I do not know how up to date these figures are. In fact it seems these figures are fairly old. My obsevation was that right around 8.5% of sales seems to be the cutoff. Most above 8.5% have survived (IB being the obvious oddity) and many below 8.5% have been eliminated. By this analyisis I would say orange, cool blue and purple would be the next to go. LY could also be on the elimination list but since it is a color exclusive to the MC the overall sales figure may be essentially an understatement (higher percent of MC sales). I can't see them eliminating pepper white even though below 8.5% and although this shows HB below the magic number I would guess that the elimination of IB helped HB sales. Although BRG is right on the bubble I would think that maybe tradition would keep it around.

My MCS05 is HB and I won't mind if they discontinued the color. Just makes my MINI more unique. I love the color and have only seen 2 others in my travels around North America.
It seems that most color choices are driven by resale. A popular color equals bigger market

Mine is EB - and it has been discontinued. But I feel the same way - It is good news for uniqueness. I hope they do not discontinue HB because if I ever trade in my EB, HB would likely be my next choice.

Just curious. . . but where the heck do these "sales figures" come from???? I cannot imagine that there was ever a time when Silk Green and Hot Orange (just to give an example) were ever sold at the same time. . . .

I'm not doubting that these seem like reasonable percentages for each color but the numbers are suspect without knowing the details about how they were collected. . .

I do not really know where these numbers come from but I think it was from a particular point in time and was a somehwat cumulative number. In other words i think it was something like a tally of all MINI s sold to that particular point in time for all model years. But presuming that, then the part that does not fit is the number of unit's sold. If you look at the column on number of units sold the numbers are way too low. So I just don't know.
