Calipers from Germany?

Does anyone think it is strange that the dealer my husband took his MINI to for service told him today (weeeeks later) that they are waiting for the caliper to come in from Germany? I don't know........
There is not a single brake caliper available (stored or whatever) in North America?

Since they do have the letters B-M-W cast into them, they may well be made in Germany and assembled on the cars in Oxford. Would not surprise me if they were made by ATE.

What surprises me is how long we have been waiting for this car to be fixed. What also surprises me is the incredible lack of customer service that we have received. I am thinking that this whole thing could have been expedited. This is just the last straw.........................in a long, long, string of annoying experiences (I am normally a mild mannered kind of girl)

The quality of service for MINI seems to vary widely from dealer to dealer. Sorry you are having problems.

PPE, thats common (not just for brakes). For example, I was looking for an oil plug with temp sensor and there were only four (4) in the country. I was looking for certain decals and there was only one (1) in the country.

I think if they had not been completely evil throughout this extended process, it wouldn't bother me, but they have had PLENTY of time to order this part. They have had this car for three weeks or more.

its only been 2 full weeks your just starting your 3 week now... but that is still horrible service! For a caliper you should tell then to purchase, have overnighted, install the JCW BBK because they suck at getting the correct stuff in a reasonble manner!

seems like longer when Yucca has to talk to them eight times a day cause they are being idiots.

The JCW BBK was on hold most of the summer, at least until beginning of October. Maybe they have them now but most dealers were out of stock

I would give them a call tomorrow and don't tell them who you are and ask how long it would take for them to get and install a JCW BBK on your car, and see if you could get an appointment for the next day or something. Cuz honestly that is HORRIBLE service oh yea and miniusa should know about this, again since I know you have already talked to them earlier...

********oh ok maybe not the JCW BBK but maybe just the calipers.**********

It is under warranty. Long sad story that Yucca doesn't want me to share until we rescue his car.

One of the things I like about Pepper White is how easy it is to change the look of the car with stripes of different colors . . . so far I've had light blue, red and now purple. I think green is next.

I like it. I like it very much. What color is your roof? Pepper white? I can just barely make out chrome mirrors. More pics please

Yep it's PW/PW with chrome mirror caps.

Here's a few from the past:

When we bought this car, we traded in our 02 EB/W and I wanted to try to reverse the look of that car. Cooper Flags did the roof and stripes.

Earlier this year, I decided to peel off the roof and stripes and go fro a different look

I liked the red, but wanted to try a darker color, so went with the purple. When I decide what I want to keep for a while, I'll most likely do the roof to match the stripes again.

True, we need the work done, and we need the car back, but worse things have happened to better people and being bitter and evil doesn't help. I am getting over it.

We still have one MINI in the drive and a Land Rover Defender, so I guess I shouldn't moan and groan.
