devon,

Congrats on your new MC.

The heated seat probably wouldn't be too hard. Aftermarket ones are availible, but the factory ones may be cost prohibitive. As for a sunroof....aftermarket is the only way you'll get one. I'm not a fan of them though. If you go that route get someone who's done MINI's before. I would worry about a poor installation causing problems down the road & the structure of the car being compromised by a hole cut in the roof. I'm pretty sure the factory reinforces the top when there's a hole in it.

well after looking on Realoem.com, it appears it will cost about 1300 bucks to retrofit heated seats.

as far as a sunroof goes, i wouldnt have anything of it. anything that isnt installed at the factory is just a problem wating to occur. it will never be the same.

Heated seats via aftermarket will only cost you maybe $300 USD installed.

Sunroof, if you really like one, get another MINI that has it. It is totally not worth the trouble to go aftermarket for this.

Seats retro-fit

When I bought my PT Cruiser in 2001, it was missing the heated seats when it arrived . The option was listed on the order but it said "bypassed" on the sticker, we never did figure that one out.
Anyway, I was beyond irked and had to refrain from throwing an honest-to-goodness hissy fit right there in the dealership. The dealer ended up ordering the heated seat parts, basically looked like a stripped down heating pad, and I found a local collision repair and refurbishing place to put them in. The pads cost about $175.00 for the pair and the guy charged me $100.00 to put them in, which he said took a little over an hour. The dealership then issued me a check for $300.00 when all was said and done. They've been in the car for almost 5 years and still work perfectly and I'm glad on those cold mornings that I stuck to my guns on that one! I'm sure if you made a few calls you could find someone in your area that can put them in reasonably.
Good luck,
Annette

Do you want leather

If you do want leather and butt warmers Go straight to www.autoleathers.com Fully customized Katzkinz for your MINI. Get the MINI logo stiched into the head rest or seat back and get your heated seats.

Not inexpensive, but more Durable than the factory leather. D&R MINI in Indy uses Katzkinz for aftermarket leather seats in their minis.

Yep,

Aftermarket heated seats are affordable and well worth the investment (IMHO). The sunroof...wouldn't touch that with the proverbial "ten foot pole". You're asking for trouble and also lowering the resale value. If you MUST have one, sell yours and buy one with the sunroof and then add the heated seats.

Cheers

Does anyone have a good source for aftermarket heaters. The only one I found wouldn't work with seats that had side airbags.

I've been told that the heating units are in all the seats. It's just the wiring and switches that need to be installed. You might check that out. Again, that's what I was told and don't honestly know if it's true or not.

I bought my car with the Winter Pkg. for the seat heaters. This was probably one of the better options avaialble.

Moss Mini has seat heaters available for $129.95/seat. I don't know how these match up with the factory installed units.

Look under "Interior - Accessories" for additional information. I believe that there is an instruction .pdf on this page to show what is required for installation.

You are going to have to pull the seat out of the car and then pull the seat cover off of the seatl
