$%^#&@ at 1400 miles!
Nope. This isn't a thread lamenting poor quality or difficulties with my Mini.... Shortly after I hit 1400 miles, someone hit me.... Rear ended. UGH. Just some idiot teenager not paying attention when rush hour traffic slowed down on the freeway. On the bright side, damage seems to be limited to the bumper and hinges, though I'll find out for certain today or tomorrow. The one thing I know is that the car can take a fat hit from behind. Traffic slowed from about 45mph to about 10 mph, the Blazer probably hit me doing about 25-30 mph. I saw it coming. Too bad, ABS could have saved this kids parents a load of money on their insurance. (He locked up the wheels from the get go and slid right into me) Just wanted to vent a bit.
to add insult to injury, the loaner/rental from my insurance company is a Ford 500. Blech.

The could have at least given you a Tahoe as a loaner.

tahoe, were you hurt at all? How's the neck? I suggest you be checked out by your doctor, just in case. Sometimes injuries show up after a few days. Sorry your MINI was hurt....hope it's repaired good as new and ASAP!

Tahoe,
You said you saw him coming at you, were there cars in front of you? How were you able to avoid crunching into anyone else?
I'm impressed the MINI took the crash so well and very glad you are not hurt. Driving the 500 will make you appreciate the cabrio even more!

sorry to hear about this!!
you saw it coming... so were you holding on the brake the whole time? If you see it coming as such you can save some damage and injury by letting off the break before they hit and applying it again right after they hit. nice little trick

All an MD or other drug pusher will do is give you a pill, powder,or potion that will temporarily relive pain. When the PPP wears off the pain returns. Is that healing? Nope it is expensive pain management.
A Chiropractor (D.C.) will get to the cause of the problem and give PERMANENT LASTING RELIEF. It may not be the instantanious relief but you will not be a DRUG ADICT the rest of your life.

Yep, happened to me in my first ever car. Only I wasn't as lucky. I got hit by one of those big Sears fix it trucks with the tool boxes all over it. My car got totalled. It cost Sears a brand new Mustang. Not bad a move up from a Falcon. That was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back in 1973!!! I feel old.
thanks for everyone's kind words. I'm fine. Back and neck are quite sturdy. As I said, I saw it coming and relaxed my head and back into the seat. As someone mentioned, just before impact, I let my foot off the brake a bit and then re-applied it after he hit me and coasted to a stop on the shoulder. Didn't get close to the car in front of me. I'll find out the extent of the damage to the car in an hour.
Glad to hear you checked out okay! That is the most important thing...
Bummer about your MINI - I know how you feel....I'm sure the body shop will do an excellent job and you'll be motoring with that big smile soon...

Glad to hear you are okay Tahoe

.....for the damage to your MINI, for your being temporarily MINI-less, for having to drive a lesser car. Hope your MINI's patched up in no time!
