Front License Plate Locations -- Show 'Em

As beautiful as a state as Colorado is, it sucks to obey the law of the front license plate. Without obstructing air flow towards the radiator, what other ways were you able to mount your front plate, to give your MINI a less "interrupted" look. Please post pictures, if you have them, and elaborate about tools and techniques used to achieve that particular mount.

Thanks.

I envy you. For not having to sport a front license plate, anyway.

Here in Cali they " prefer " that you run a front plate. I rarely do but if I am going to be where I think there may be more of a issue I came up with a quick mount method. I have two permanently mounted bolts thru the grill where a simple nut holds on the plate in those times of need.

saw a really cool idea where a member had mounted it to the passenger side visor, and fold down outward facing of the windsheild where needed. Looked really good! See if you can contact Richard Lin at www.c3club.org this is the site where I saw this.

That is a best place to keep my front plate.. no air restriction, no cosmatic effect... Yes, it's on the wall of my garage
Not on my car

Kentucky doesn't require one, but I wanted to sport one...sort of. The 02-04 Coopers have a nice slot for a European plate. See sig.

I just wonder why people putting Euro plate rather than UK plate? Does it mean they believe MINI is Germany rather than British?

Looks like a British plate to me. Ever since the EU, they all kind'a look alike -- it's just the blue rectangle to the right that denotes the country, along with the letter&number standard of the individual country.

I used to do that but i had doubts if it would fly with the lawman. I had it rubber banded to my visor and could flip it down. I am showing at a LAPD sponsored car show this weekend I will ask around .

Prefer? Damn, I guess the two cops "preferred" to issue me fix it tickets!

I drove my Civic for about 3 years and got two fix it tickets in SoCal. I had to pay a small fine if I remember correctly.

When I ordered my MCS, I didn't bother telling the dealer to leave off the plate since I had so many problems before. I HATE front plates though!

Since I'm getting a pretty sweet plate (see "vanity plate help" thread), I'm pretty happy I get to display it twice!

It really does vary by jurisdiction. It seems that the primary factor is whether the jurisdiction has implemented photographic ticketing (such as for running a red light). San Francisco has implemented photographic ticketing and not surprisingly, is really dilligent in issuing tickets for no front license plate. Elsewhere in northern CA, I have experienced a very relaxed attitude to missing front plates on both my Corvette and MCSa. So, for me, I continue to not have the front plates on the cars. If I have to go into S.F., I just take the Denali.

You ARE getting a sweet plate! Congrats!

Thankfully, I live in a "no front plate" state!

Randy,

Let us know what the LAPD says! I know for a fact that the LAX Airport Police have an issue with no front plate, been pulled over 5 times never ticketed though. Leads one to believe that it really isn't a big deal!

I put mine on when a Culver City (LA area) cop "suggested" I do so or get a ticket. I know several people who, indeed, have gotten fix-it tickets in Culver City, Santa Monica, and LA proper.

Anyway, I don't know why the bracket is made to work the way it does (as it breaks up the chrome lower lip of the front bumper), but I clipped off the hooks on the mounting plate and used the holes marked "Japan" and aligned them with the existing dimples on the front bumper. It lowers the plate just enough that I think it looks a lot better - and it's plenty secure.

That is interesting because they have one of those camera lights on Sepulveda just before you get to the airport . I would think they would be more strict there.

Sorry to say this, but this; "Civic", would be my guess to why cops gave you tickets both time. I got pulled over a few times in my bimmer(prev car) and cops told me about my front plate and I should have it on and etc. then let me go. I live in norcal btw. I don't have plates on my new mini at all right now :-p I keep the rear plate inside the car cuz the piece to screw it onto on the car that screws onto the hatch is not there.

For what its worth both cars that I got the lack of front plate tix for were recent model BMWs. Both time the cars were parked, in norcal and socal, it was not a live interaction. Depends on the type of officer perhaps..
