Yep. I saw another thread where I believe someone stated that orders for it had to be made by end of January '03. you may check with your nearest dealer though. It's being replaced by Gold.

 

As of right now... it's still available. Not sure when it's going away exactly, but the rumor is true. :???: :???: :???:

 

Yes, it's been replaced by gold (which, IMO, looks HIDEOUS). Supposedly they will rotate SG back in. My car was built January 4th, so I guess I got one of the last ones. There aren't that many out there. It was the least-ordered color.

 

I was told by my motoring advisor on 11/1/02 that SG would be phased out in March production .. not sure what date that means exactly. Certainly helped me decide to go ahead and order SG MC on that very date!

 

Its a shame - such a gorgeous colour.

I picked up my (silk green/black top, mirrors) car tonight. My advisor told me that the last of the SG production was scheduled for January. It has officially been replaced by gold. He has seen the gold (he actually was photographed with a gold one at the 2003 product intro meeting) and says it's not bad.

I'll have to wait to see it in person, but in my opinion, I like the Mini in the "sophisticated" colors best- silk green, silver, dark silver, velvet green. I think it looks like a classic Aston Martin- especially with the black roof/mirrors. I too am VERY glad I chose SG when I did (December order).

the news is true!!!!!!!!! SG is out......... we just got our order in on time to customize it..... there are a few out here in CA, but they are automatic or have black tops...... email me for more info if you would like... IT IS A GORGEOUS COLOR!!!!

 

I was just at my MINI Dealer this morning to have some work done on my SG MC. As I was walking around the showroom, one of the employees took down the SG MINI color from the color board. It was wierd watching them take it off. Anyway, I asked him for the color plate and they gave to me. I can now put it on my wall or auction it off at e-bay. (LOL)

Yeah, if you go to the mini site you can't pick SG anymore but you can pick Solid Gold.

I was never a big fan of Silk Green but it was a nice color to see. I am on the fence about the new Metallic Gold. Maybe I am fedup of Gold cars myself so I can't see too much value in it.

I did configure a '03 Cooper in Gold and you can only get it with black roof and mirror caps or single color.

Not my cup of tea.

We're all just weird!! I got the color plate at my dealer too .. now off to laminate the window sales sticker sheet!! Weird, weird ...

 

just checked the miniusa website...no more silk green, only nasty gold.

oh well makes ours cars more interesting...
