I sure do. If it was a factory option, how much would you pay for it?

I had a right hand drive cooper S , its not as much fun as you think. When overtaking someone you have to stick your entire car into the oncoming lane to see if it is clear enough to pass.

Not to mention having to drive backwards through drive-through windows, ATM machines, toll booths, parking garage ticket dispensers, etc.!

I wish my car was RWD or AWD. RWD preferably. But, that's a totally different car.

Although, some drive throughs here have windows on both sides

I would not do it because of the Passing problem, once your out far enough to see it is safe or not it is too late.

yeah, but when your car is a classic mini that's not too bad!

I have a Morris Minor that's RHD. It's unique and fun. I get into conversations with cars next to me at lights since we're right next to one another. It's small enough that I can lean over and work with ATMs and drive-throughs.

Having said that...and having declared a desire for a RHD MINI when waiting for mine last year, I would not want to have RHD now.

To drive a right hand drive car in the US may seem to be a fun idea, it will get old fast if you use it as a daily driver. Both maxmini and Yucca point out some of the typical problems you will have.

I have driven both right and left hand drive autos in the UK and Japan for a number of years. It is so much easier to use the standard setup for the country you drive in. If it is a car you would drive only certain occasions, it would be fun, but as a daily driver it’s better to drive whatever is standard for where you are living.

I've had a few right-hand cars - a classic Mini, a Land Rover, and an old postal vehicle (International Scout). The Mini was a lot of fun because it is so narrow that it doesn't make a difference.

Some time ago my brother owned a Morgan (1500cc Ford Motor) with RHD. It was fun (on many levels) but it was not a daily driver. Not because the windows, the front axel, wood frame, or even the push/pull shifter. The RHD made the car tough to drive in traffic. Open roads were fine but get behind someone and you were stuck there.

I don't want to be a mail man!

If I am driving a RHD in a place that drive on left, it won't be a problem.. but if I drive that on the right side, it will be totally strange.. you can't see the on comming traffic, you are hardly pass on the county hwy.

It would be a novelty that would soon wear off. Toll booths, Wendy's, etc - all set up for LHD is the US. Passing on 2 lane roads would be somewhat of an adventure, too.

On the other hand, RHD would be great for roadracing - much better weight distribution thru predominant right hand turns.

No! RHD vehicles in the land of LHD are a PITA. It's only a matter of time before RHD is extinct anyways. Sweden was the last European nation to do the switch, back in the late 1960s. During the first few years, people commonly reverted to driving on the left when intoxicated. Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest was proven in scandinavia sometime in 1968.

I'm with Buzzy....I can't think of a single good reason why I'd want a RHD car in the US.

Pure novelty. Plus it would make the MINI more British.

Someday, I want to buy a classic mini, and while I'd rather have a LHD, i'd be perfectly happy with a mini that has the wheel on the wrong side. For the new MINI though, it's LHD all the way.

No

High on the list of reasons I don't drive my 79 regularly is the fact that it is RHD.

bth - if the British wheel is on the right side, doesn't that imply we are on the wrong side...

I drove a lefthand car in Kenya (righthand drive country) for 3 years. It can be done but I don't recommend it. The passing problem can be worked around by staying WELL back from the vehicle you're trying to pass before going over for a peak. This gives you room to get back if somethings coming. Then pass...however, this only works if you have enough power.

Having lived with it and living in the USA now, I'd pass.

Cheers
