I'm just trying to help out the folks who are in the deciding phases of what options to get, what not to get, etc. Perhaps some words from those who have already done that and now have their Coopers (or not) could pitch in and let us know if they have any regrets about anything they ordered. Or, maybe some words about features they really love.

How about it?

I regret ordering the automatic climate control. Granted I haven't spent an hour reading the complete description in the manual and figuring it all out, but I don't like that that's necessary. I find the system to be difficult and cumbersome and inconvenient and even embarrassing. I know that most people probably disagree with me.

As far as options that I love, the sunroof is my favorite and the steering wheel radio controls are a close second. Both indispensable, as far as I'm concerned. I think the sport seats ($270 in the MC) are also money very well spent.

I am completely happy with everything that I ordered. The only thing that maybe I would second think would be the cold weather package. As in, I don't have it. Winters in my area are normally really not that bad, but this one has been particularly obnoxious. There have been several mornings that I have been in the car with my windshield all icy and have wished that there was an easier way. But then again, it's not that cold for that long here in Baltimore so I spared myself the extra expense.

I am also extremely happy with everything I've ordered.....mostly cuz I don't even have the car yet!

L.Mini: The heated windshield is no more, the cancelled it after realizing replacements are very expensive

If I had to do it all over again...I would not change anything on the car, but I would have sought psychiatric help to alleviate the obsession of wanting the car immediately after hearing about it...the wait was painful!

Totally off topic, but, LMini your new banner is great! Love the combination of city, mini and flag!

I am hard pressed to find anything I'd do different with my Cooper. I love my heated seats. The sunroof is great. I really like the ACC, sorta like Ron Popiel's rotisorie... set it and forget it! LOL. I couldn't get, but would still like, the electric windshield defrost. Is that avalible yet? I don't know how I survived before my Multi function steering wheel, it's a real safety feature. I might go for just getting the sport seats instead of the full sports package. From what I've gathered lighter wheels are better, and the 16"runflats are heavy. The 15"holeys might be better and cheeper to use for winter tires, when you upgrade your summer tires to a light aftermarket 16" rim set and then you will also have a spare. Cloth seats is the way to go! The Tartan red interior is amazing!

I just like my Cooper too much. If the rumored RS AWD model comes out I doubt I would change an option. I still love my red and white paint scheme too!

Best looking car on the road IM(not so)HO!!

L.Mini,
I enjoy running into your posts as I cruzzz through the forums. You have a great sence of humor. The new banner is awesome! Congratulations  ! First you got rid of the boyfriend and symbolically replaced him with a jackass ...er donkey. What happen to the donkey ??? Did he end up going to the BBQ?
Kind Regards,
Ron

I GUESS I NEED A BANNER!?!? COOPERations are some of the best!

Hi nfo:

No, we are keeping our 5 month CVT. Is the wife's daily driver and she loves it. The '03 MCS will be replacing my '01 Chevy Impala.

No word on the CVT software fixes yet either.

Ok, here goes:

I wish I would have gotten fog lights, etc. so I could have ALL the toggle switches.
I wish I would have sprung for leather seats and stearing wheel
I wish I would have gotten DSC
I wish I would have gotten the 17" wheels

I wish I wouldn't have gotten the cargo net....what a waste of money!!

I'm glad I got the bonnet stripes (no regrets!)
I'm glad I didn't get the rear spoiler (I still don't like the way it looks)
I'm glad I got the cold weather package (I wouldn't trade my bum warmer seats for anything!)

If I had it to do again, I would change dealerships - (niether of the Atlanta MINI dealers seems to have a clue) but am pleased with all of my delivered options.

The one unexpected surprise is how much I love the heated seats. I ordered the cold weather package primarily for the never-delivered heated windsheild. I'd do it all over again just for the toasty seats.

Kpiglet,

What seats do you have, now? And why the desire to switch to leather?

Thanks,
JS

Since I do have it to do over again...

I think I'm going to get a Cooper, not an S
I think I'm going to not get the sunroof...let in too much heat
I think I'm going to not get the Auto A/C...too weird to operate

I will get the MFSW
I will get sports seats
I will get 16" wheels
I will get Xenon's and Fogs and DSC
I will get the HK stereo

I got to spend a bit of time in the Cooper this last weekend and I thought that it wasn't as much of a work out to drive. But, I sure like the extra power in the S. Like I said, I think....

I'd delay delivery 6 months from May 02 to lessen the problems and recalls I have had.....no guarantees but minis delivered today seem to be better put together based on reports here.....

I agree...that's the Getrag 6 speed which is a terrific transmission but more mechanical feeling than the reg MC 5 speed.....have you ever driven a Ferrari, never owned one but drove one for an afternoon once and the transmission was incredible mechanical feeling and takes a while to get use to, but I guess needed for longevity because of all the HP & torque...funny never noticed it on Porches though, too weird...

If I could do it again I would probably get the standard cooper. I got the S but I think I would rather be getting better gas milage and have an automatic.

I'd keep the GPS, very cool
I'd keep the sport package,
I'd keep the cold weather package.
I'd keep the leather with the heated seats.

Overall it's very cool.

I am noticing that some of you don't seem to be too happy with the Auto A/C and the sunroof. I did not order either on my '03 MCS, but wondered why about the discontent with these options...

The MFSW is a good option and a good safety feature. I wish I had one in my other car. I find it is an awful long way to reach the dash with out it. I think my favorite option, even though I live in Arizona is the heated seats. On a cold morning (45 degrees) they warm up my buns really quick and feel great on a tired lower back. ACC is good but I wish it would blow more toward the face during the summer. I wish I had the Xenons, but they were a 3 month wait when I ordered mine.
