My poor Chili Pepper

a couple of weeks ago I posted that my Check Engine Soon light had come on, I called Niello in Sacramento that day. We both agreed it probably wasn't to serious. I continued to drive it because I noticed no difference in performance, it seemed just fine. Drove the 250 miles to Sacramento today and when they put the car up on the rack, what a surprise, the entire bottom of the car was covered in transmission fluid. EEK!!! So my poor little Chili Pepper is getting a new transmission, they gave me a Dodge Neon to drive while it's being repaired, I cried . Don't get me wrong I am very greatful for the transportation, it just isn't a MINI. So hopefuly everything goes well and I will get her back soon. Just needed to tell someone, thanks for listening

Was it the Midlands 5-speed?

Hope you get it back quick! Look at the upside - your transmission is now xx,000 miles newer than your car, and it didn't cost you anything (did it?).

Sorry to hear that, but look at this way, you are getting a brand new transmission

What do you think of the Neon? Admittedly not a MINI, but is it competent?

Sorry to hear about that. I am not sure what I would do if I had to go a long time without my MINI. I would probably hang out at Niello all the time like I did before I got my MINI.

I had a Neon SRT as a loaner for a week when my MCS was in for service about a month ago and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. For a car at that price range, it really was pretty good and definitely was competent.

I was glad that I took it over the Aveo that I was also offered.

Wha happened?

Sorry to hear about your MINI. I, too, own an 03 MINI CVT (37,000 miles on it)... what other symptoms appeared after the check engine light went on? Did the car behave properly while driving the 250 miles to the dealer, especially since it was losing transmission fluid.

Let us know what they said happened the tranny...leaky gasket or something else?? How many miles on your MINI?

You'll soon have your MINI back with a brand new CVT, so all should be well. Let us know the outcome.

rock on,

I have 46948 miles on it, and there were no symptoms other than the light. And I also drove it for 2 weeks before driving the 250 to see why the light was on.
