The "big day" may be coming sooner than expected!!
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I have a younger brother that's turning 16 / getting his license in a just a couple weeks. So, he's ready for his first car.
He also happens to really like my 9-3. SO, being the genious that I am, I figured that this is my opportunity to get the MCS I've been wanting for years.
My parents are going to call the insurance company to see how much it would cost to insure a $30k brand new car for a 16 year old new driver. I can't imagine it would be that much more than it was to insure for me at 18. He was planning on buying a 2003 Mercedes C230, so I doubt the insurance would be much more on a 2005 Saab.
If this works out, which I think it will, I should have a 2006 MCS soon. I'll probably order it, and not quite yet...so I'm guessing I'd have one by the end of the year, or early Jan.
If he decides to buy the Mercedes, which would be dumb on his part, I'll have to stick to my old plan of buying an '07 next fall.
Wish me luck.

I think I speak for everyone who has read through all of your trials and tribulations regarding the MC, MCC, MCSC, and MCS, when I say:
GO GET IT ALREADY!
wink:
Then enjoy it and tell us about it.
mb
ps - don't feel ashamed for opportunities you have that others didn't; it could be worse, you could be using your parents' money to buy a friggen pt cruiser
or wait, a hummer!

My bro decided he wants my car instead of the Mercedes. Now it's up to my parents whether or not I get a MINI now.
I was in a similar predicamet as yours, i was facedwith buying my brothers old cvt or getting a vw jetta (which i like, i know i am weird). And looking back now i am wishing i got the Mini, especially since the person that got the mini traded it in for aused wrx!!! So my words of advice are to act quick and go order the Mini without telling your parents, so when they say what kind of car do you want, you can be likei already have it ordered, and guess what it is a mini, they cant say no to that!!!

They're just having trouble stomaching the idea of letting their 16 year old son (my brother) get a brand new '05 Saab with 6k miles for his first car.
I had to prove myself before I got that car, he hasn't yet.
I have an idea... get your brother a driving school class to teach offensive and defensive driving for christmas... it would help both of you and he could even get a lower insurance rate! nothing like a little track time to show your parents how well he can control the car!
I wanted a mini since i was 17, but unfortunately, my parents said straight forward they aren't paying for a vehicle for me. It's not so unfortunate, i appreciate it more... but that's what held me back from buying a mini for 2-3 years
i talked all the time about wanting one, and saying i'm gonna get it, i'm gonna get it... then...
19(at the time)+full time job+living at home for another 1.5 years=MINI!
My dad didn't want me to get a MINI before, but since my miata mishap, he came to my work IN a mini and said buy it, i'll co-sign. Well, atleast i got help with that
I hope you get in a mini soon, too. It's nice seeing younger people drive them sometimes
it's so rare!

My brother is 100% in on my plan now, he decided he loves my car.
That means I just have to convince the 'rents. Based on prior experience, this shouldn't be too hard.
It actually works out perfectly because the lease on the Saab expires right before he goes away to college, where he won't be needing a car.
So I'm gonna go ahead and put the specs of the car I'll order if I get an '06 in my sig.
Of course, this plan could fall apart in the next month or so. Then I'm back to an '07.
