Fun with Z06

No...not racing one I'm not that dilusional but, I have one to test drive for a while

Now I know what a 11 second car feels like..."OMG" is all I can say It can be frightening having so much power at your disposal. One stupid manuvers can hurt pretty bad real quick. Still, I have more fun with my Mini. Don't get me wrong, if I could afford both, the Z06 would just force me to kick the lawn tractor out of my garage

The only other NON-MINI car that is interesting to me would be a "Big MAC" [McClaren F1] or the new Louts Exige (Elise with hard top and producing 100 more pounds downforce at 100 mile per hour.)

Exige would be more realistic to my budget than the Big MAC. Heck a MCS is even more realistic to my budget than the Exige! And it will hold my whole family!

Those are my top choices too. I'm not much of "muscle" car guy and while engine provides ample roar, it's not the "music" to my ears like a Ferrari or my Mini for that matter. Nevertheless, it was handed to me for an extended test before production so I'm NOT kicking her out of bed For the money, you can't complain about the fact that it has out tracked both the Ford GT and Carrera GT during a recent magazine test.

And no, it's not photochopped. The sun was very low when I took the picture. I have a hard time going up my driveway without scraping. It is sitting on my driveway next to the Mini. I'm sure my property taxes will go through the roof just for doing that

BTW, there's only a handful of these running around Detroit area as they're not for sale yet.

The Z06's are now available for sale, but unfortunately most dealers are marking them up pretty significantly. The new Z06 is the only car out there right now that I would love to park next to the MINI. I'm trying to figure out how to trade my Avalanche for one of these.....I'm thinking I've got to win the Lotto first. Oh well, they need a year or two to work the bugs out of them anyway.

1-I think they're on sale in October, which is now.
2-On hi-speed sweepers, it's vastly superior because of it's wide tires and lower stance. Loads of grip at high speeds and mistakes will take you off road very quickly. At lower speeds, it grips equally well but can rotate at will due to the abundant WHP...which, without practice, can turn you around in a hurry. I'd be more comfortable in the Mini at the Dragon. But the Cherohala is a different story.
2.5-Acceleration...killer. Gas milage...18, not bad:smile:
3-My neighbors are jealous
4-Mini = 10+, Z06 = 10. But on different scales. The Mini's like a warm, familiar old flame who cooks well, makes you smile all the time, forgives you a lot and never gets PMS. The Z06's like a Super model/stripper with a 7th degree black belt. Exciting but dangerous

I need a camera person for the smoke. But hell...even the Mini can do smoky burnouts. I just got home and laid down two long, wide (325!) sguiggly lines nearby. And that was from a 20mph roll on in first gear without dumping clutch. I'll see if I can go back and take a photo:smile:

I think a lot find the Mini more fun because it's point and shoot! Just aim, and put your foot down. My mustang isn't as sticky or as powerful as the new Z06, but the dynamics are similar. Be careful with the gas, or mess your shorts!

Fun car to play with, and try not to burn all the tread before you return it. The tires aren't cheap!

I believe the shadows are from the really low lying sun (i.e. close to sunset). Appears legitimate to me.

MSFITOY:
I am looking to buy a new vette somewhere in the next 5 years. My family has owned corvettes of one variety or another for many years and soon it will be my turn .

So in conclusion:
1.) I love you for having a new Z06 in your driveway
2.) I hate you for having a new Z06 in your driveway
3.) Dare you to just leave the key fob in the mailbox and then go to home depot for a while........

The cool thing about this Vette is that I never take the keys out of my pocket:smile: Walk up to it and it unlocks for you when you touch the door. Get in and there's no ignition key hole. Just depress the clutch and push the start button. When I shut it down and get out, I just walk away and it locks automatically. My friends found this out the hard way at a party when I walked more than a few feet away, they got locked in
