does anyone know when the Harmon Kardon will be avalabil in canada or the USA???

 

There are conflicting reports. The latest is that it PROBABLY will be delayed until December although this is NOT official yet. Both MINI and my dealer in NJ say as of now it should be ready for September builds. I have a Sept build and have ordered the HK stereo (which I REALLY want). But if the HK is delayed beyond Sept, I'll just take my 'S' with everything else. This waiting thing is not for me. I want my car now!

 

you are in the exact same situation as i am..i have had a down payment on a cooper S since last febuary..yes febuary 2001 and origionally i was getting a pre relese in april of the cooper S...but its been delayed for that option ever since

ya my dealer tells me that it may be avable for the spetember build..but that means it will be shipped in december i dont know if its worth it..what are the 2 extra speakers?

Shipped in December??? My order is a September build with late October/early Novemeber delivery. It usually takes 4-6 weeks after production date to pick up car.

It's not just the 2 extra speakers. It is amplified to 240 watts (don't know how many watts standard stereo is - probably only 80-100 watts) and has some need stuff like it's digital and has driver acoustic settings. My brother has stereo in 3 series BMW and you can get it VERY LOUD with NO distortion. That's the big advantage. IMO, well worth $550, but waiting extra for my 'S'...no!

thanks for your information its been a big help..do u know if that 4-6 weeks applies to Canada to..i live in Toronto..which is about an hour north of nigara falls/buffalo Ny

 

Harmon Kardon will definatly be avalible for cars that are of September production build. These cars are going to be on the ground some time at the end of September.

 

I was told if I order for September build, it would arrive in October. I'm willing to wait for October, but much longer and I don't know if I can stand it. After reading on here about the possibility of a December delivery I'm going to call and see what they have to say about delivery dates. My dealer has a few in stock now, but not the color I want -- S in silver with black roof (loaded of course).

SCoopFL - I'm with you. I don't want to wait longer than October or early November for my car. I have no idea how I'm going to get through this summer!

 

MINIQUEEN, a very reliable source, has stated on the other board that the HK option will not be available until December at the earliest. She said that this information has not been officially released to dealers yet.

 

Who does the Mini sound system now?
