Here is a pic of my favorite MINI parking space in Crestline Village, Birmingham.

As you can see, it has a blocked off area to the left so I can hug the left stripe to make sure that the other small cars do not ding the right side of my MINI with their small car doors like the small car parked next to me in the small car only parking space!

When the lady driving it got out of the car I mentioned that I liked her small car. She did not hear me since she was still on the phone chatting away.

I see that crap in the parking garage I park in every day. Spots are clearly makred on the wall and ground saying compact only and some ole dumb SUV driver squeezes there car in.

I always park way up on the 6th floor so I can pull into a wall spot that has no one on one side of me, I hate getting door dings.

In the parking garage at my work everyone dings everyone else's doors....there are great corner parking spaces for me to use though. Normally I park up on the 5th floor in the corner and noone can ever get near me. I was ticked the other day though because I went to park there and someone had already beaten me to the space with their rust bucket Corolla. Like it would have mattered if they had gotten one more door ding....the side of the car was already all dented up.

I am envisioning a secret army of MINI owners armed with MINI Parking ONLY stencils and cans of spray paint!

Let's go tag every parking lot in the country!

I like to wedge my car in between a car and a snow drift. Just gotta rock it back and forth at high rpms to clear out the snow undert he tires, otherwise you'll get stuck when you get back, ehe.

Haven't gotten my MINI yet and I am wondering where I will be able to park without getting dings.... I am already losing sleep and it hasn't arrived yet. I'm thinking corner spaces too. Sigh...

Speaking of parking spaces...does anyone else encounter this....You go to the mall or another large parking area, and no matter how far out you park, or how isolated the space is, someone ALWAYS parks right next to you. I don't get it. It must be that they are interested in the MINI and want to see it, but it blows my mind. Yesterday, I intentionally tested the theory by parking as far out as I could, (it was freezing too) and parked on the end of this very long row. No cars within 30 spaces. Go inside to eat, come out and guess what....yep...a big ol' TrailBlazer right next to me. It was the only vehicle too, no one else for about 20 spaces. It really gets on my nerves as I inspect my doors, just waiting to see that FIRST ding. The MINI key will become very handy at that moment.

Is that the small version of the 4 door Sherman tank next to you?

Notice how that big honking land barge is parked as close to the left-hand white line as possible. There's no way she can get out of her car without blasting someone else's door. I hate that!!

Hey Yucca -- it's been a lot of years since I lived in Alabama (I was in Huntspatch). But can you REALLY get by without license plates down there?

[BTW -- Got the Bitter Apple today based on your posting. Now we'll see if it really does tame Mickey & Minnie]

Tom

Barkersan: Actually, around here, anything smaller than a Yukon XL is considered a compact car. The average car parked along this street is either a European sporty stationwagon or a gigantic SUV. Most of them are bronze colored Suburbans or white Lexus or BMW SUV's.

Tom: You can get by with a lot here, but not license plates. I still have the paper temporary tag in the window that is now a couple days exipired, but I am getting proper plates tomorrow.

Love the all-chili-red! Was not a fan of the color until I saw your's! Red roof makes it look beefy and not quite so toyish

Yucca, you should see Tom's car in person, I thought it was the best looking car at the Mid-Atlantic Laytonville meet! Thats the one problem with Minis... they don't photograph too well... like Jag E-types, have to see them in person to appreciate the curves.

To me, the matching chili red roof actually tones down the red color and compliments the shape of the vehicle incredibly well.

Almost a shame that MINI chose to promote the contrasting roof colors so much that body color roofs are relatively rare.

Well take it from this Scorpio (beware of the sting of the Scorpio! And the ding was CLEARLY from them. In a fit of rage I tried to give 'em a little key mark to show my intense displeasure in their utter lack of parking/door opening ability. Unfortunately the MINI key is smooth to the outside, with the markings down the middle, making it a useless tool of destruction. :???:

Call it childish, I don't care. I subsribe to "eye for an eye". That's right, don't touch me MINI!

That's how I like it. (check my sig.)
It would almost seem practical for eveyone in Honolulu to drive a MINI, or small car. Did I say practical? OMG, I'm sorry, I was too busy chatting on my cell phone

How funny that the key didn't work. I can just see you trying to scratch it and nothing happens. That would make a good Mr. Bean skit. Sorry to hear about your MINI though. Did you try to scratch it sideways? Maybe the inconsiderate parker has "clear bra" over the entire car. heheh

In New York our PathMark supermarkets have these little clear domed sheds all over the parking lot that are used to put shopping carts into. It also happens to be the perfect Mini parking garage...so cool...
