R50/53 Will it end?
Will it end?
Well, I have had my 05 MCS w/JCW about three weeks, maybe a month and I have had quite a few visits from UPS. Here what I have done to date:
Removed and sold stock MINI driving lights (wife and 8 yr old son hated them)
removed big cup holder on the upright
bought ASA AR1 silver wheels and Yoko ES-100 tires
bought Slime temporary repair kit
sold s-lites and run flats
bought Wahlen shift ****
bought schroth harness for the track
bought track pads
bought and returned B&M shifter (did not work w/JCW resonator)
bought aero upper and middle grills
bought glove box orginizer
bought stubby ant.
bought Ian's auto up w/track mode DSC
removed resonator from JCW exhaust (sounds great)
found a nail in one of my new tires
bought JCW strut brace
bought euro parcel shelf
bought H&R springs and Bilstein dampers (not here yet)
On the list for the future:
Quaif (sp?)
Pro MINI steering col gauges
Big brake upgrade
Kosei wheels and Toyo RA-1 tire
short shift again)
I have to keep thius list away form my wife
This car is great... more fun around town than my old e30 M3, e36 M3 and anything else I have ever had and I am 44 years old!!!
At the track it is fun, not quite as much fun as the e36 325i J Prepared BMW racecar I recently sold. But then again, this was the first time I had driven FWD on the track and the first time in years I was on street tires and a stock suspension. On the plus side, it is nice to show up with my helmet, tire gage and torque wrench vs a Suburban, 24 ft trailer and all the required race support crap.
And before anyone goes nuts thinking I tracked a brand new car during the break in period... while it is an 05 and I have had it less than a month, it had 3,500 miles in it when I bought it, The previous owner traded it in after 6 mos to get a MCSC. He did the break in, I had the fun from day one!

schroth harness
Hey fellow car addict... abit off topic, but
Does the schroth 4-point belt mount fine in the 2005? The instructions state to mount the driver side lap belt (on the door side) underneath the bolt holding the seat belt slider... BUT the 2004 and 2005 model years don't have this slider for the belt. Instead the stock mounting point is a bolt only to the body of the car. I need the 4 pt but am concerned that the schroth install doesn't account for this model year difference and would think that longer bolt may be indicated if you attach the driver door schroth side lap belt and stock belt directly to the bolt, similar to way schroth provides a longer bolt to attach back strap on one side..
Any thoughts...
