Anyway, Kaelaria I think the fox pee idea is worth a shot...but if there are any real foxes you might have a problem on your hands if they come out to mark their territory. I had a huge problem with coyotes doing this near my basement door because I'd let a friends elderly jack russell pee near there. Trust me, it wasn't pretty.

But not that this would happen to you. I say go for it and tell us all how it works out.

The neighborhood felines don't bother my MCS since it lives in the garage if it's not in the driveway receiving direct hands-on TLC, BUT...

We were the only ones on our street (it seems like) who did not have a cat (or 2 or 3), so EVERY other cat in the 'hood used my yard, actually my gardens and cultivated areas, compost pile, etc etc) for an On-the-Go-Kitty-Commode, AND as an arena for yowling noisy knock-down drag out territorial disputes! I don't mind the noise so much, maybe they will eventually just wipe each other out, but the goin' potty in my organic vegetables had to be quashed, and i don't mean smeared on the soles of my boots...

We mulled our options, everything from the round the clock kids patrol yelling "scat, cat!" to full-on armed conflict... We decided on tactics...

We adopted a cat, and guess what no more neighbor's kittys come a-calling any longer... Just don't anybody tell them that our Oscar is basically a lazy slob, not the big bad tomcat that they all must think he is. Even for cats, perception is reality.

Hmm. Then I guess my male cat is percieved as a *****. That or he invites all the neighbor cats to come play in our yard... I've tried talking to him, but (Andy?) have you ever tried to reason with a cat?

 

No, we don't need a cat (althought my GF would certainly disagree!) - Boo is everyone's cat when they want him - and there are two more like him around, one 'lives' next door - however only Boo gets on cars.


Just came back from Wally-World. No Fox-Pee, just Doe Urine...but in the pet section they did have an aersol can of indoor/outdoor training spray, and it was only $2.50 so I bought one. It does say to treat surfaces daily, but hopefully it'll only take a few days, and maybe some reminders.

Anyway, I sprayed boxes around the cars and just abour every open spot. My GF called boo over from across the parking lot and he JUMPED back when walking over the 'line'! SO far, so good! We tossed one of the other cats near it too for good measure...he stood there, then bolted the other way!

The stuff smells nasty...kind of hard to describe - a slight citrus smell at first, but after a minute of spraying, it smells like a ROTTEN citrus smell and was making me wanna puke! Good stuff for $2.50! LOL

We'll see how it goes over the weekend.

 

This thread got too long so I haven't read all of it yet. Did anybody mention coffee grinds?

I found that if I wanted to get the cat out of my garden, I sprinkled some coffee grinds in the dirt and after awhile...the cat just stayed away. The good thing about coffee grinds is, it just washes away.

Seems cats don't generally like the smell of coffee. Also keeps spiders away.

Not sure if it will work on your bonnet though.

 

Why didnt you go the extra few bucks and get a factory alarm like most people? Priceless photo !

 

doing away with a poor kitty is horrible, i say use any of the alternatives that everyone has listed.

Mmmm...minor bummer. I just looked out the window to see the farking cat on another car, where I had sprayed lightly in an empty spot, near where we usually park. So I krept out, it saw me and KNEW he was in trouble - as soon as he saw me come out the door he krept down - I chased him and then hosed everything down real good again. Hopefully it'll just take a few days of this to make it permanent.

 

And then there's my cat... who climbs my legs (ow!) just to get near the coffee grinds when I'm making coffee...

I've got massive scratches on my rear bumper from a kitty who takes an occasional liking to my caR. Yeah, it's frustrating, but in the end I'm glad it's my car he's scratching up as I'm not nearly demented or maladjusted enough to do anything harmful to an animal...

On a serious note...... I personally like pets but I am not overly fanatical about them, unlike some people...


However, I will never do deliberate harm to an animal, that is just wrong and sick

But, I do have a tremendous problem with people that like to have pets but refuse to take full responsability for them and their actions. I hate when people shove down my throat their favorite dog or cat. Owning a pet is a FULL time responsability and if you are not willing to take it, resign ownership of said pet. This saves unecessary harm and suffering to the animal and pissing off others around you.

Trust me that if I had Kaelaria's problem, I would also take action to drive the damn cat(s) away from my car.

There is a product called "NO SCRATCH". It's designed to keep little cute fur ***** (I have 3) off of what you don't want them on. It's clear, oderless (to us anyway) and my cats HATE it. Mine like to open cupboard doors and sleep in my CLEAN dishes. This stuff works great. It's in a white and blue plastic spray bottle and you should be able to get it at like Petco or Petsmart or a pet store of some sort. I have used it on wood and furniture and glass and it's not left any stains or damaged anything. Not sure about the price of it though, it was given to me by someone. Good luck and don't kill the kitty. It has good tastes and it just wants to Motor too!

 

Great. Now today I notice a fresh scratch on the passenger door, not too deep though - about a paw spread, 3-4 lines vertically right bove the handle - like he was jumping down.

 

Keep hunting for that fox urine...or try the NO SCRATCH or something similar. Keep using the stinky stuff you bought. I think chemical warfare, so to speak, is your best bet. It'll take longer than you think, tho'..more than a few days. Keep the chemical attack up for a week, at least.

put a balloon (not blown up) over the end of the gun when you use it!

Maybe you should just catch the cat, get it de-clawed, and then all you have to deal with is muddy prints, but at least you won't have to keep so many containers of various animals' urine around.

 

Sooooo, any ideas on how to get a fox to pee in a bottle? I found fish emulsion works well for getting rid of winos. Shotgun & flashlight worked well for crackers & transvestites.

 

SO I went to Petsmart - everythign on the website is obviously - website only. The only thing on the shelf is the same spray Wal-Mart sell, but $10 more a bottle. Nice.
