I was looking earlier at the MINI items on eBay and was surprised to find that there are quite a few MINI's on the boards for sale....And some of them were not that expensive. What's up with that??? Just wondering.Maybe some of you people on the never ending list can check it out and get one sooner. Just trying to help.

I limit my sight unseen purchases on Ebay to about $30! I can see using it if you live close to the seller and inspect the car and test drive it. I guess that it may help this way instead of putting an ad in every paper within a 300 mile radius.

I like the one that says Bidding will begin at $1,000, but at 18k plus it says that the reserve hasn't been met yet.

Look away now! Don't be drawn into this madness!

I have seen it elsewhere. In the guitar world, we call it G.A,S. -- Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. Those innocent of this affliction ask, "Why do you need so many guitars? You can only play one at a time." There is no easy answer to this question.

The syndrome morphs and extends into other areas. When I bought a "vintage" Wheel Horse lawn tractor (because it was cheap) I went on line to find information and discovered that there are people who collect vintage Wheel Horse tractors. If I find out that people are acquiring multiple Minis, I will run away screaming into the night.

Peace and pleasant dreams,

Mark of Pemburnia

I was actually looking at classic Mini's on ebay a little while ago. They are relatively inexpensive, several at or around a 1000 dollars plus shipping, and thought damn it would be cool to have a new one and old one.

Put the same paint, graphics and wheel on them and it would look too cool.

I totally agree that having an old and new mini would be something special. Although when I was looking at some of the older ones a while back, they were mostly in europe. I would hate to have to pay for shipping on a car overseas...from a private buy (since i already have I guess).

I think that the used car market is very slow all around. Chances are people
can buy a new car, get a lower finance rate and make the same payment
they would if they bought used with a higher rate. In case you haven't heard
the real estate market is the next to take a hit. Cash is king!!
...and I don't think of myself as a contrarian.
The market for classic Minis has dried up a bit with the new intro....I know
of some old timers who have taken the plunge but,of course, kept their classics.

Here some rather reasonbly priced overseas old minis. They are just basic minis and not S's or other racers but still cool.

That guy has seven minis up for auction.

Depends on where your real estate is, laugh......Boston, San Jose, etc probably....but still many places, not likely long term hit...cash at 2 % is not my idea of king... now cash under Jimmy Carter at 18% was great...I'm still shorting many tech stocks which will fall another 50% or more by the summer IMO as well as buying selected default bonds & foreclosures....I do think the foreclosure market will continue to get better with some great buys.....this is one of the better investment periods in a long time, but not to be long in the market or buying new real estate....the bull market will be back, but not till 2006 at the earliest IMO...many investors forgot the early 90's.....My MCS is certainly a depreciating asset, but at least a very fun one, laugh ! If the real estate market is hit, then you will see the Dow at 4000 and a deflationary period that will make your spin....Gold anyone, laugh !

When Jimmy Carter's interest rates were at 18%, inflation was at an all time high. It was probably the worst economic time in our short history. By the way, did anyone buy 30 year treasuries back then? Not many people did. They were only yielding 14% and you could 18% on a cd that only lasted 3-5 years. The long bond proved itself to be the better investment then. So no matter what, someone loses and someone wins. It's all about D-I-V-E-R-S-I-F-I-C-A-T-I-O-N.

As long as cars are 25 years or older they are exempt from just about all safety and emissions laws.

Well, A 1969 Cooper S is for sale on eBAY. I followed the link above and someone is selling their's from the Anaheim area. I think it realy belongs to Goofy at Disneyland but i could be wrong, like most of the time.

Well, as long as you weren't diversified in the market long, laugh! Diversification is highly overrated, just like buy and hold is...the brokerage firms like to sell diversification because it covers their butts because many of them have no clue since they are like car salesman (mini excluded of course, laugh)..... market crashes & bonds pick up the slack as they have returned over 50% since the start of the tech crash....but your overall returns then get nailed.....it's not rocket science to sector rotate, but you do have to do your own investmenting and not rely on someone holding your hand, it's still about buy low and sell high or today sell high and buy it back low....the biggest gains are always made over shorter periods of time...then being patient till the next move, there will be a time to jump back in the market long again, but that is several years away at best and then dump your bonds....
