R50/53 My MCS got scarred!!
My MCS got scarred!!
I wake up and go to Home Depot to get some supplies to fix my girlfriends ceiling that fell through because of rain from a while ago. I get back to the car and just drove back home. I get home look go to open the boot and what do you know... i now have a scar above the MINI emblem!
Some ****ing hoodlum tried to steal the wing and scarred the paint.. The fool didn't even get it so i guess thats why he just gave up and decided to just flick his knife and scrap my car from the right of the round section of the wing up to the rear window.
What do i do now i don't know where or how much to get it fixed all the places around my house or rip-offs. I need some guidance on what should be done. I'm so depressed.. i just got the MINI in march and already i got hit!! DAMNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! it..
TIA guys/gals,
MCuS

Can your scar be fixed with touch-up paint and a steady hand? A tube of the good stuff is about $17 at the dealer counter, and includes clearcoat. Don't use the brush from the bottle--use something finer like a toothpick, even whittled down to a finer point if necessary.
Once allowed to cure for about a week, you may be able to polish the area back up using progressive steps of compounds.
How about posting a picture of your gash! <G>
Your mention of Home Depot reminded me of a friend who was driving his car (on his way to park) past the contractor pickup area of a Home Depot. A contractor there was parked loading a truck and he threw a strap over the bed of his truck & supplies...buckle first!!
The metal buckle flew over the truck and landed (by coincidence) right in the middle of the hood of my friend's car (not a MINI) driving by. THUNK!!!.....hood scratched up and dented!!!
You have been warned.....!

Yea, I'm gonna post a pic when I get back home. The scratch is deep and the paint around the scratch is flaking off. I can definitly see the primer..
So unfair. Unfortunately the damage is probably too small for the insurance company to handle. Why do people do these things? Home Depot may have to post guards.
In Miami a friend went to Home Depot to get household stuff (she and her husband bought a vacation place there). While packing up her Volvo wagon (with Illinois plates) someone grabbed her handbag and ran. She ran after him yelling. He was accosted by 2 other customers, threw the bag and ran away. Makes one wonder about visiting Home Depot and other retail venues with giant parking lots.

Maybe I need to prevent it..
Yea, since Home Depot has such a big parking lot it too hard to spot a crime being committed. I remembered about two years ago a car pulling into a parking and hit the car next to it and the girl look at right at me and just took off. I was in shock. But at least i got the license plate and left a note with my contact number on the car she hit. I didn't know what else to do. Security should be looked into for places like these.
Well, now I've been thinking of debadging the wing and the "COOPER S" to avoid this from happening again.. I don't need people to know what it is.. the already ask me anyways and if they do know what I drive they should know that it's an "S".
What do you people think of debadging the front wing as well?
Well, first i have to get the damage checked out.. I had some friends look at it and one mention that since i got the DS metallic it will be very hard to match the amount of flakes and it will never look the same.
Is that true? He said that i might have to get the whole hatch repainted to hide the difference.

ooooo noooooo!!!! That really sucks!!! I would be PI**ed off..
I had no scratches on my mini untill last week when a henge fell off a Quality Carriers Truck and struck my window sill then bounced off that into my mirror, cracked the mirror cover and bounced into my passanger window chipping it in 3 places!! I was furious. Good luck in getting it fixed. Maybe some touch-up paint will suffice!
