A big "hey" to all the members on MCO:

I'm a college student (a freshman at the U of M) and I've recently decided that the MINI Cooper S is the next car for me. I'm currently driving a '96 Nissan Sentra and I'm very proud of it, but I'm really looking for a car that I can be super proud of.

The MCS is that car.

I have figured it out, and I'd be able to afford a regular Cooper if I were to go ahead and get one this summer. However, I'd REALLY REALLY like an MCS, so I'm going to save my pennies and take the plunge during the summer of 2004. That's right - 1.5 years from now.

I will undoubtedly be obsessed with MC's until then, but I know that my long wait will result in the happiest day of my life when I finally get that MCS in the driveway. Wish me luck, and happy motoring to you (gosh darn lucky) current owners. I'll just sit here twiddling my thumbs and saving my money .

Welcome to MCO!!!! You are not alone! There are many of us who have to wait for one reason or another. I am currently in a lease that ends the first week of next January. My last official payment is the December 03 payment. I am looking at a year before I get my MCS. I see it as an opportunity to learn everything I can about MINI! I have until July to lock down what it is I want to order. I pretty much know the options I want, but I have not been able to lock down exactly what color car I like the best!

You will be able to research options, features, etc... This is a great site! You will like it!

Welcome SHopeful...I waited a little over a year and it wasn't fun. Just visit here often and keep up-to-date on the new models coming in the future. There is no doubt that the car can only get better in the years to come.

Welcome SHopeful.

Your year and a half wait won't be any longer than the wait everyone has had, no matter the length. Hang in there and you'll find plenty of great information and friends here at MCO.

Hi SHopeful! Welcome to MCO and congrats on your first post! The 1.5 year wait is manageable, especially with a support group like you've got here at MCO. I didn't discover MCO until November, which was a full year after my first conversation with my dealer about the MINI. My official wait (starting with when I placed my deposit) has been 11.5 months and I'm finally taking delivery tomorrow. Hang in there, your day will come!

Hope you're enjoying Ann Arbor. If you ever stop into Village Corner, say 'hi' to Jorge and Kirky for me. On second thought, you might think I'm a weirdo if you see these guys......better that you stay away from them.

Thanks for all the great words of encouragement! I didn't realize there were so many Ann Arbor/U of M MINI fans. I'm really looking forward to ownership, and while I'll be busy over the next couple months with school, I'll definitely have time to check in here at MCO and learn all I can about the MCS.

Thanks!

SHopeful,

I'm sort of in the same boat you are. My parameters are different, got a wife and son and two functional cars. My car is a 12 yr old Integra with 200K + miles that is still running fine. I can't just sell it and get an MCS. Wait, not can't but shouldn't. I figure I've got another two or three good years on before I can say goodbye to it and hello to my MCS (MCRS?).

Be strong man! Get smart by participating in MCO. Join your local Mini Club and really feel the pain!

Hanging in there, Shopes. You're not alone. I've got a minimum of six months myself (hopefully)

Welcome 'SHopeful'. Waiting isn't really something any different than the majority of us have done already. 'Course, I thought my wait was almost unbareable at 3 months for my MCS. Do you have one on order already? Or are you waiting 1.5 years until ordering one? If you don't have one ordered, I'd look into ordering one, say like 6-8 months prior to being ready to acquire it. There seems to be a lot of waiting lists going on. It's not an easy car to get ahold of in most parts. Until then, keep those pennies in your pocket, and don't blow them on keg parties. It'll be a long stretch of MINI-dreamin' and craziness while you wait. But it'll be worth it in the end.
Cheers,

1.5 years!! Man we are lucky. Well SHopeful, you could spend some of that time getting some of the great aftermarket parts for your new S. I guess you are the first "Can't wait for July....04' Clubber".

Aftermarket products??? What products??? I look all the time and find only the basics. And who wants to spend big $$$ for some of these items these places are selling them for. I have spent over $1500.00 for aftermarket parts and can list them on a sticky note.

1) Chrome rings= $700.00
2) BMP Intake = $ 170.00
3) Roof graphic = $150.00
4) Oil and Power steering billet red caps =$125.00
5) Arm Rest = $ 165.00
6) And around $100.00 for misc items

Don't get me wrong I love to add on. And going to put on new rims, tires, and DVD stereo but the cost for some of these things is crazy....But I bought them anyway.

You'll wait. You'll hate it. You'll go insane. You'll read this board and notice all the fine tuning and upgrades. Millions of lines of words that point to something that you won't have for 18 months. Tee-eee-der over the edge of loosing your job reading about your future baby. And... well, But, you won't regret it.
