95 minutes to Delivery!!!

I have ants in my pants, an itch to scratch! I'm famished for a MINI sandwich! I need some motoring satisfaction!

Finally after over five weeks I can take Cavan home. I only wish Keith would be there too, the only damper on an otherwise absolutely incredible day! And it will be!

Let's Motor!!!

"Will he make it?" "Can he manage to handle the wait to be brought to his special someone?"

Only time will tell...

I'm sure doogie has no idea how much his life is about to change. I think he'll be needing a lot of MINI sandwiches from here on out!

Oh my what a day.

So I'm about to hit the road to go pick up Cavan when I remembered I need to swtich my car insurance over! So I hop online to make the switch and am going through, when I need the exact name of the lineholder. All I know is I'm finance through BMW, other than that no clue. SO I call up MINI for the name and the financing guy I'm talking to asks me if I ever sat down with a financing advisor. Nope. With Keith's accident make case got juggled around and that slipped through the cracks.

So then things are getting slightly panicy, everything's in order though, except I need to get temporary plates. I didn't know I personally had to get those, I thought MINI would do that. That's something the finanacing advisor would've warned me about. So before MINI I need to hit the DMV. It's 3:20 and the DMV closes at 4:15.

RUSH to the DMV and hopin line. Time ticks and I know I'm not going to be helped before 4:15. Now I'm freaking out that I'm gonna get turned away and sent home. Luckily the just closed the doors and helped everyone inside. So I get up to the front to get my temp. plates. "I need you licence please." "Sure thing!" *reaches for my wallet* Oh @#%. Of all days, I forget my wallet. I've never forgotten my wallet anywhere and I do it today. So out of line and over to another to buy a duplicate licence. Then back to get my temp plates. So now it's 4:40 and I'm off to MINI.

Everything got better from there. Cavan is in fine shape, and looks so damn nice!!! I'll have pics very soon. I don't have a digital camera, so I gotta get them developed and on CD.

My god is this car fun! Finally the valve stem caps came out of my pocket and on the wheels.Keeping Cavan under 85 is difficult, I'm managing somehow though. The Harmon Kardon sound system is just amazing, I can't remember the last time I could feel base beats in my heart. It's so much fun watching other people oogle at Cavan. Sitting at an intersection someone was so slackjaw awed someone had to honk at them to get them going on the green LOL. Everything is spectacular.

Friday I'm having my extra boot and side stripes added.

After that, my mod to-do check list:
Remove warning labels on visors
Shorter antenna
Mod on CooperS gascap
Chrome scoop inside door handle dip
17" chrome rims

Those rims will have to probably wait till xmas, money is tight as is. They'll look almost as nice under the tree though. :D

Now I must go to sleep and dream of winding roads. I'm quite ready to carve some wonderful memories out, and enjoying every minute of motoring!

You had to provide your own temp plates? Thats crazy my dealer did it for me. I have never had to on a new car. But i am glad all worked out well. So now what are you going to do with 2 Licenses?

I'd like to welcome Cavan to NH!

I the same Temp Plate experience you had. Luckily for me I had found out from my MA a few days before.
I was able to register with the Mini purchase agreement.
The woman would would not believe me when I tore off the VIN# from the top of my head.
She laughed, but wanted it in writing.

Good luck

Yes, I would definitely have to say this is the first car I've ever had in which I know the VIN number by heart! My MINI (that was supposed to have arrived last week) is still not in yet. And then my Uncle passed away on Sunday, so it is a pretty depressing time for me. My boyfriend tried to cheer me up by offering to go after hours to the dealership and sneak around and see if my MINI really WAS there (a possibility we've been joking about). So he pulled out a pen and asked me the VIN number. Even he, putting up with my MINI obsession since I ordered it a month and a half ago, couldn't believe I just rattled off the VIN perfectly! The expression on his face was priceless.

I'm beginning to think the whole Jeep logo "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" should more properly be applied to MINI owners!

Yeah MINIs are an addiction, and it only gets worse after you actually own one! I'm hooked, totally hooked!

Though the whole DMV ordeal seems to follow a common theme in my life. Just before some of the greatest moments in my life I've had some heart-twisting suspensful moments, and Delivery Day was no exception.

I *almost* ended up like you! My MINI is coming in next month, but I told my MA I had a plate - I just assumed the dealership would mark the plate fees up, etc... (first new car). Heh, after calling the DVM, found I should have the dealership do it - they only charge state fees. I would have had a plate, cept my VW expired more than two years ago : (

Please post pics ASAP! I think you had a HB/B on order, right?
