I wouldn't key your car because I just am not that mean...however, I would run to the nearest computer and visit miniusa.com and print a MINI motoring violation citation off and leave a note

For almost 2 years now...I have parked in the front, in the middle, but mostly in the first & closest available spot I see. I have one minor door ding. Is it really worth all the hassle
Well if i ever see you in a parking lot, parked like that i will make it so you can't say that anymore.
However it hasn't been posted in in ages.
This one crawls to the surface every few months.
Even if you park in the back of the lot, why would you have to take up 2 spots?
If you are in the back, then that means that there is less of a chance of someone parking next to you anyway, so just park normally. Parking in the middle of 2 spots just invites someone like CoryB to park right up against you. At the mall once I saw a guy that had parked in 2 spots and 2 BIG pickups parked really close on either side of him and there was no way he could get in his car. While I wouldn't have done it, it was funny
The shopping cart thing drives me nuts too. Why is it so difficult for people to walk 10 more steps to the cart corral? I'm fat and I do it.
Oh, and the ONLY door "ding" that I've ever had on any car was from a loose piece of construction equipment swinging into the side of the truck I had in college
and I just park in normal spots

To answer your questions simply: YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't blame people who park like that: it's because the rest of the population has no respect for other peoples' property.
I had a door ding in my bimmer with 2 days, and I'm *ultra* careful where I park it. Thankfully it can be removed.

Therefore, I would advise one not to park that way or the results may well be much worse than a door ding (would you rather have a ding that can be repaired by PDR--paintless dent repair--or a four foot scratch through the paint that requires much more complicated body work ?).
There are more reasonable and generally accepted parking practices to avoid dingage that can be taken, as pointed out numerous times in the thread.
Because I'm something of an @ssh*le I've actually found myself on at least 3 occasions finding a way to park in one of those spots
Naturally, I made sure I took pics of the other car's license plate, orientation etc with my cell phone... just in case I had to either file a complaint... or find them afterwards

JMHO
The problem is, while the rest of the population is showing no regard for other people's property, people parking like this are showing no regard for others who wish to park in that lot
I've frequently parked in an empty lot, gone inside, only to return to a full parking lot. And then to see someone taking up 2 (or in this case 4) sopts is a touch frustrating.

You park like that and you are irritating a lot of people and you may not like the results.
Park far away from everyone else and walk to the store...it's good for you anyways. Door dings are not good either, but you are just inviting retribution and the same for anyone who does this.

I never have to do that, when i go to school, the parking lot has really wide parking spaces and when i go out im always with one particular friend of mine named Andre who also drives a MINI and if we find two spaces by a wall or end of the aisle we're good
Unfortunately different schudeules never let that one work out, even for the photo op (could only find the MINIs not the drivers
)
Be careful how you park, you may wind up on this site...

I printed out some of the "tickets" and put them on cars all the time.

There's no guaranteed safe way.
Even those of us who park legally and defenisvely seem to be at risk. One evening last week I parked in a downtown Cincinnati lot in the last place on the right. No door dings, for sure; just two large dents in the trunk lid made with a large blunt instrument, perhaps a baseball bat. Diabollically clever, too. Both craters are placed to make them hard to repair. One is at the top left, under the reinforcing frame, the other on the right under the switches for the rear lights (which at least can be removed for access to the ding). Some jerk might key or otherwise damage a big ticket car, say a Porsche, out of envy. Has anyone else out there suffered such an unprovoked assault?
