when i see that, ive always wanted to go home and get my beater car and go back and try to park in the spot (of the two taken) that is least used, and come as humanly close as possible - within a centimeter or so, so the cant get out without them dinging my beat up car with there normal one. that would be ironic. in lots near me at shoprite, suv moms sometimes take up four spots for no reason.

When I point this out, I'm then "defensive." Then, I actually attempt to diffuse the situation with a picture of my newborn and the crap still continues. Hrmm, I know several English people that would strongly disagree with you. Chill dude, when they said what they said that got you all fired up, they did not know that they were making derogatory statements I never knew that amigo was derogatory, I thought it meant friend??? When you see something like this, calmly point out that it was derogatory to educate them to what you feel is derogatory. Its like someone used the term "j*p" which someone said was offensive. No one else knew, they just thought it was short for japanese. Once they were educated about it, they stopped using it and it was put on the filter list to prevent its use on this forum. If you wish for this term to no longer be used, ask some of the moderators to put it on the list

Amigo is not derogatory, everyone here uses it all the time, Mexicans included.

 

It's hard for me to figure out what's derogatory anymore. Just because people use it in their group of friends, doesn't mean it isn't derogatory to others. For instance if a black person were to use the "n" word in their group of friends that's supposedly fine, but if someone from another race were to use it, they would be in big trouble. If its derogatory in any manner, noone should use it, particularly those that claim that it derogatory if some one besides them says it that way the rest of us that don't know any better won't get the impression its OK. BTW, I did find the word amigo on a list of racial slurs, but then again, almost every "common" word in any foreign language was on that list

 

I liked this thread alot better when we were talking about cows.

Speaking of which, does anyone here know how many gallons cows fart a day?

But seriously, double parking in a MINI is practically a sin. It's like a recycling plant that doesn't recycle. It's like PETA sponsoring deer hunting. It's like saving the trees by cutting them all down and putting them in a freezer. The MINI is supposed to be the savior from road hogs, not another part of the problem. For shame!

My dad had a name thing too. I KNEW i was wayyy busted whenever he used my MIDDLE NAME to call me. I can still hear it in my head... "Scott EDWARD!!!". Usually followed by some other parental type remarks like "come HERE so I can smack you!" (yeah right, be right there pop).

And about those cows... I think I read that cows and various other critters account for something like 15% of total emissions of methane, carbon dioxide, or maybe both... . How's that for the "show me the numbers" crowd?

(regardless of bovine, equine, and porquine influx that have chosen to vent their agression on this forum... (this includes mules aka jack-asses)). I'd like to ad my 2 cents !

Park however you think is safest. If I think my car will get dinged, I don't even bother to go to that place. I don't mind walking 50 yards as long as my Mini is okay. PLUS... I need the exercise.

So after 11 pages of this, is there more than 1 that thinks this is OK? Today I watched a man let his wife out of their SUV before he parked within maybe 4" of the car next to them,who was parked in the center of their own space. I was nice enough to let him know my feelings on parking ethics.
