R50/53 Who else only parks like this?
All you one-spotters, one question and be honest - how many door dings? I've ALWAYS parked this way in the MINI and ALWAYS in my 2000 F150. Running score: 0 Door Dings, 0 Keyings.
That said, I obviously don't take up close spots - I'm always way out in the lot or even far far away from the lot. I also NEVER parallel park where suckas can nudge my bumpers. I find a spot only a MINI will fit or get one that only allows a car behind.
You one-spotters - apparently you've never seen those rude people getting out of there cars using yours as a door stop. No single spot is safe from an SUV soccer mom on her 3rd Frappacino.
Keying and worse is vandalism which I would then fix under insurance.
K - if I had a Ferrari, I'd have the butler take it down to the body shop, but come on man, we are talking a virgin MINI
!!!
Don't Tread (or Door Ding) On Me!

Moonstone drive in Cambria(san simeon)??? Love that town!!!! The socal chapter of the Oldsmobile club of America use to have their annual meet there for years at the cambria pines lodge......loved it
Agreed that this is *such* a jacka$s move. At a past job, we had some jerk (never figured out who) who thought his car was so important he should straddle two spaces. But not at the back of the lot ... NO! ... this jerkwad arrived early each day and would take the two spots closest to the building.
At the time I drove the beater to end all beaters: a 1984 Plymouth Colt, grey with pink polkadots of primer on the drivers' side. I too got extremely good at fitting in half a space. All it takes is folding in the rear view mirror and parking within an inch of the self-important jerk.
It took two times for said jerk to revert to a single parking space. No keying; no dings.

Seeing an open-top 'vert parked like that, I think I know where I'd throw my trash...
There are lots of other options to not get door dings... ones that don't involve inconveniencing other people by taking up an extra parking space. If preventing door dings is something that YOU want to do for your car, then please don't inconvenience ME in the process (though I can't tell from this pic if you are close to the door of the business or parked at the far end of the lot, so I'll refrain from name calling in this instance).
I get POd when I go to one of my local shopping centers and find a H2 parked in 2 compact car spaces. Again, it comes down to their choice. They chose do drive a vehicle that is oversized. I shouldn't be made to suffer for their choice... It's their option to buy a huge car and they should have to circle around a bit and find a spot (probably a bit farther out in the lot) that will fit their vehicle better... not block 2 spaces for other people. It's just selfish.

Not only are you taking 2 spots designated for compacts (to reward those who drive sensible vehicles with prime parking), but you are taking 2 spots nearest the establishment. Way to go...

BUT seriously dude, in the vacuum of this thread/MAN, there is nothing Zen about your philosophy or actions. It is selfish and insensitive. Stop giving Buddhism and and MINI owners a bad reputation and represent properly.
Not wishing anything on you, but Karma Happens!

Yeah, whenever I go out in my micro car I go all out and park sideways across 3 spaces. I think that my vanity over minor imperfections in my fine machine easily trumps the inconvenience of others. Besides how am I going to show off how large my package is if people can't see that I'm the narcissist in the car parked across the spaces that everyone else has to share?
I have 3 dings, I also know they came from work as I have a hard time finding places to park out of the way there. Never could justify taking up 2 spaces, just seems like sinking to the level of those who just don't care. Everywere else I park as far away as possible.
Do I see a double standard?
I wouldnt door ding you but Id gob on your car.
I just witnessed it yesterday.
I had read some of the early posts here day before yesterday. Last night I was at Brandsmart to buy a refrigerator. While I was walking from across the parking lot (I don't park my pretty truck in unnecessary danger either) I heard one woman yell across to another on the side walk "somebody keyed my brother's f***ing car." I looked and noticed the car was parked in two parking spaces, intentionally.
I told my wife I was just reading about that last night on the Mini forum. Please do note the car was no Mini to say the least.

does anyone else find it funny that he conveniently offset the car in this picture so that the whole sign was visible? Judging by his ignorance of EVERYONE'S posts that double parking is illegal and rude, I sort of think this thread was a move to show off his location. he would.
Heres a video of what happens to you if you park that way

.. What does Rick Astley have to do with bad parking, or were you just trying to get me to watch the entire video?
My Guess ... like Astley's career, ZenAudio will be motoring nowhere, now that his lack of parking talent has been revealed.

And...I can't believe I watched the whole video. Pop Up video was so informative.
Our work garage has spots designated "Compact Only" (like many other places), but it also has "Compact Only: NO SUVs" for the really tight ones . . . and people in SUVs still park there: amazing.
but I do "readjust" the side mirrors whenever I see someone parked in
2 spots.
