I HAVE A 05 MCS HYPER WITH WHT TOP. I AM ADDING AERO KIT ON IT, NOW DEBATING ON PAINTING THE ROOF TO BODY COLOR AS WELL, I THINK ALL HYPER BLUE WOULD LOOK TOO COOL. KIND OF SICK OF SEEING WHT ROOF ANYWAYS. MY WIFE SAYS STAY WITH WHT. ANY IDEAS ?

 

Color is a real personal choice thing. I love the white roof and would never paint over it. I went with my second choice body color to get a white roof. I do agree that a solid hyper blue MINI would look great though. You could go with a custom graphic on top to change it up some.

I have been living in the UK now since April and I am seeing a lot of Mini's here with the roof color the same as the body. The one color approach does make the car appear to be a bit more serious so if that fits you go for it. I think the one color approach looks great, go for it

they all 1 colour because those are probably just MINI Ones. They dont have 2 tone paint option.

 

It's all just so subjective - I personally prefer the contrasting roof, esp white, as it feels very "Mini" to me. Patterns are also fun, or just cover the roof in another color vinyl (like silver/gray or dark blue, etc) if you want to play with it.

 

Good point, you want your MINI to look like a One?

 

It's not a bad idea to go all HB, really. I think certain stripe options, for example really work out better on a solid-colored car. A roof graphic would get you close but matching the HB color exactly would be very difficult/impossible. So painting is the best option.

Why rush though? Since you have an '05, take a moment to consider what you really want to have going on up there. Is yours going to be a classicly-styled MINI?...go white. Any graphic possibilities floating around in your noggin?.....go printed. After all that consideration, if you still dream in HB...paint the sucker and be proud!!! Besides if you really agonize over it all, perhaps the missus will have pity on your poor tortured soul and pronounce her blessing over the paint job. Win...win!!!!!

 

I am really sick and tired of seeing the white roof, here in TX. Since I am getting the aero kit painted and installed, I thought I might as well do it. Just a single color, nice classy look.

 

I would say go all Hyper Blue, but I am very biased because I have all HB 05 MCS with black bonnet stripes. Looks Dope! I always see different roofs and I wanted to be a bit different. (not like Im the only one)

Think about it for a while, dont make a quick decision.

I think you should also consider a black roof. Here's why:

If you think about it, all three pillars leading up to the roof, (the A, B and C pillars), are already black. Add a black roof, and then TINT YOUR WINDOWS dark, you'd have a really cool two-tone car.

That's kinda what I've been trying to do with my car, which is Electric blue w/black roof and black bonnet stripes. I had the windows tinted, so now the upper half of the car is all black, and it really works well with all the black around the rest of the car, (the black mirrors, black fenders, etc.)

Never hurts to keep your wife happy. I know a white top is a popular thing on MINIs but almost every car on the road is a solid color. If you want something new go with a roof decal and then you can easily change it if you get bored.

 

It kind of seems like you're really wanting to go with the all Hyper Blue. If you feel stongly about it then go for it. If it doesn't turn out to be what you were expecting... then you can add some stripes on the roof or other graphic for extra flare. If all else fails then you can simply repaint the roof another color or back to white. I like being different too, so I can definitely relate

 

Paint it hyper blue then apply white checkerboard. The perfect compromise - nobody's happy.

I Went With The Hyper Blue Top, And It Looks Awesome, Got The Aero Grill Installed, The Rest Of The Kit Is On Hold, Because I Decided To Go With Performance Mods Instead. Thanks For The Ideas.

If you want a more sophisticated classic look (not necessarily classic in the "MINI" sense but in a design sense), go with one color. If you want the more whimsical toy feeling, go with a white roof. Personally, I think the one color body and roof shows the interesting details and lines of the car much better than breaking it up with a different color roof. But really, it's all personal preference.
