R50/53 My MINI arrived early!
My MINI arrived early!
Just got a call from MINI of Peabody saying that my car (due late July/early August) has arrived!
This is sort of a problem because I haven't even posted my current Cooper on autotrader or anywhere else to sell it yet. So, I'm officially a motivated seller. I guess my two red and white Coopers will have sometime to get to know one another before being split up. I'll have to get a photo of the three of us.
One thing that was just absurdly easy was getting a loan online through Capital One. Filled it out in five minutes, and the approval was already in my e-mail by the time I checked it two minutes later!
I think I'll pick it up on Saturday!

Think about posting a listing on Craigslist.com and ebay. Good luck! I'm sure you'll sell #1 quickly!

Let me chime in with my own two cents...
I think that craigslist has got to be the easiest (and least expensive) way to advertise a car for sale. I recently sold a 1992 SAAB 900S through the Washington, DC craigslist. After I figured out how to post pictures (which are a must if you want to solicit inquiries), I found that I could provide lots of information about the car (full list of options, a little description explaining why the car would be ideal for a student or commuter) and I could fine-tune the ad (e.g., start with a higher price and reduce the price incrementally week by week) throughout its run.
I also found that editing and reposting the ad would put the ad "closer to the top of the pile" and lead to more "hits." If you initially post the ad on a Monday, you don't want to get drowned out by all the ads posted later in the week. I reposted on Thursday and Friday mornings (around 10 am) so that interested buyers who were surfing the ads at work, with plans to look at the car over the weekend, would have a better chance of running across my ad.
You can also provide an email address (which is made anonymous) so those interested can contact you right away. I wasn't too excited about putting my telephone number in the ad, but I could respond in a matter of minutes to a potential buyer's questions. I'm sure that my prompt response helped convince the eventual buyer of my SAAB to pursue his initial inquiry.
I also think that the diverse audience demographics for craigslist (i.e., computer users and enthusiasts of all types) fits with the demographics of the MINI community.
In the end, I was able to sell my car in a little over two weeks for $1,500 over blue book price and make room for the MCS.
Good luck on your own efforts!

Thanks, Cary - I've got it up on craigslist, and I've been updating it every day to keep it near the top of the heap. Keeping my fingers crossed...
I'll post pics as soon as I wash the new one! I picked it up on Saturday, then had to head out of town until last night to attend a funeral for a good friend in New York. Crappy reason for my first road trip.

YAY CHRIS!
Personally...I'm sick of the advertising and you know the route I will be going next...I will let you know how it goes. Frankly, people looking for used MINIs are just too damn picky when it comes to certain options. If they want a car to their exact specs, they might as well just order a new one.
Chris and I have BOTH been the proud recipients of AutoTrader scams!!! So much fun to deal with!! Honestly...I'm kinda glad you got that bogus email first and send it to me. I knew EXACTLY what to look for.
My EDD at the dealership according to MINIUSA is Thursday, but you never know. I want to arrange with them to try and do the pick-up next Saturday. And I will still have the Cooper at that time and plan to do a photoshoot with the old and the new before I say a sad goodbye.
