R50/53 Miles on your mini...
Our MINI now has 5888 miles on it. Today, the gear shift went out. We're assuming the linkage cable snapped. The car only goes in reverse. (If you saw a green MINI being towed on the 101 today, that was ours!!!)
Roadside Assistance was great and even though we were in the Hollywood Hills, they had a tow truck out to us in 30 minutes. On a down note, we stupidly had it towed to the worst dealership in the world (MINI of Universal City). No one at the dealership tried to help us or cared. There were no loaners available and the BMW dealership across the street didn't try to help either. NO ONE offered to get us a rental or even call us a darn cab. We spent about 3 hours there.

-4100 miles
Problems to date:
-cold start
-cracked windshield (fixed)
-broken *rear* seat release mechanism (service appointment this week)
-hatch rattle (service appointment this week)
In all, pretty minor stuff. Schomp MINI here in Denver has been great for service so far (I purchased my MCS from Westchester MINI in New York).

We have had our Cooper for two months and now have 2600 miles on it. No problems so far except an intermittent buzz/rattle coming from the driver door. We have taken it on two weekend outings...great fun!

33 miles, had my Cooper delivered to the office this morning (red, white roof/ wheels, Chilli Pac).... can't wait to get out in it and have some real fun
.
The dealer here in the UK was brilliant, free bottle of bubbly because they were twenty minutes late in delivering.

Got my Pure Silver Cooper S from Westchester Mini Thursday the 27th of June. I currently have 1,300 miles on it.
My only problem thus far is the 'cold start' issue. Rather embarassing! I've also noted that the shifter has 'loosened' up a lot. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it common break in for the getrag six speed?

I've had my (Indy Blue) mini since the 29th of March. Only one problem, and that is the passenger seatback has only one position.. all the way laid back... so it's not a very comfortable ride for the passenger. I have about 3700 miles on the car right now. Still have to plan 10-15 minutes for "talk time" into every trip. EVEN the toll booth worker wanted to talk about the mini ... now that is a FIRST...
I got my Mini on April 19th, and I've put about 4,250 miles on it since then -- just over half of which were on a one-week, 2,250 roadtrip on which, I am pleased to say, the car performed beautifully.
Dear Fabooj:
We are also in LA vicinity and the closest dealer in Universal City (That's not where we bought it though, since we wanted to get it at MSRP) It is unnerving to know that that dealer is not delivering. What can we do? Which other delaer would you go to instead? I am panicking - what do we do if something happens?

Mini companions,
I'm driving my Chili Red Cooper (with white roof, mirrors and alloys) since October now and did appr. 26,250 miles in it. Enjoyed it to the max, but also had some problems (flat battery, rattle in the back, rattles in the chairs, gear shift went out). Biggest problem with these things is that the on-road service I received from the BMW Group was absolutely terrible... Still, I love my little red devil!

I've had my Silver/Black MINI Cooper since April 5th. It's got 3,860 miles on the odometer. So far the following are the problems I've had with it:
1. Glove box locking mechanism broke. New glove box was ordered. Got replaced and it's working fine.
2. Shift Linkage Cable break down. Waited 8 days for a replacement part to arrive. Dealer did not provide a loaner. MINIUSA only offered to reimburse up to $35.00/day on a car rental. Finally, parts arrived and my MINI got fixed. I wish MINIUSA would compensate in some way for the long wait.
Other than those two problems, my MINI has been very good.
I've had lot's of fun!
Cheers!
