Lights on multi-function steering wheel on??

I was sitting in my '05 mcs with the car off and radio on. After a while I noticed that the lights on the steering wheel were on? I thought it was odd since the car was off and the lights and park lights were all off. Is there a problem? Anyone have this happen to them??

I noticed that too. I even tried cycling the radio on and off and it didn't matter. Eventually they went out. Also I noticed they don't always come on with the car off and radio on. Not a real biggie for me.

If I had to guess, I'd say that's part of the engine off delay feature. . .the one that lets you listen to the radio or operate the windows or sunroof after the engine is shut off. I'd also guess that if you open the door, the radio AND the MFSW lights would go off. . .

Just a guess, though.

Nope, I got out of the car and locked it. Lights on steering wheel stayed on. I then got back in and turned the key and the lights went off.

That's wierd. I thought It only happened to me. It happened one evening I was washing my car I had the radio on and then without thinking was able to adjust the controls with the steering wheel. If you notice when it's not lit, or if you just have the radio on with no key in the ignition, then you can't use the radio controls on the wheel but this time I was able to. I then noticed when I turned the radio off, the steering wheel was lit up. I figured they would go out but came back out about 25 min later and it was almost dark by now and they were still on. The only way I got them to go off was turn the lights on and back off. That's it. I havn't heard it happening to anyone else till now. That's wierd... "Ghost in the machine!!!!"

Me too...

I had this happen to me, shortly after taking delivery. The worst part was that it was while I was trying to catch a roadside nap on a road trip. "Totally dark" woulda been a lot better, at that point. I don't remember everything I tried to do to make the lights shut off, but when I woke up an hour or so later, they were out. At least it's nice to know someone else has seen this freakiness...
