Picking up Mini tonight!

Lola and I are picking up HER (I need to be specific that it is HER Mini ) tonight from Ottos. 7:00 cannot come too soon. She/we/us are very excited. The Miata is nervous like a dog going to the vet.

Congrats

I hope you enjoy the RIDE as she DRIVES (stay on your side of the car). Just remember, it doesn't matter who drives...everyone motors.

No three days of "motoring" , we are off to Vermont with the family in the OTM (Audi Avant).

"Picking up the new MINI" really is a big deal. With other cars there is usually the one you want on the back lot or the dealer trades with another dealer. But nearly all MINIs must be specified and made to order so there is the personal selection process to undergo and then the gestation period to wait through prior to delivery. A relatively involving sequence of events that might qualify as pre-bonding. I hope you are happy with your new MINI. Congratulations.

a mini is a miata's best friend... i know MANY people that can vouch for that But almost every MINI/Miata owner i know had a red first gen miata to throw beside a MINI... myself included, for almost a week. Just for a general idea, here are what some owners have:
Maryland:
1 red NA, 1 Indy Blue MC
1 red NA, 1 Indy Blue MC
VA:
1 red NA, 1 Electric Blue MCS
1 red NA, 1 Pure Silver MCS
1 red NA, 1 Liquid Yellow MC (was me)
1 BRG NB, 1 Future Pepper White MCS

I know a few others that either HAD a mini, and now own a miata, or vice versa. They're a great combination of cars

I would love to do fender hash marks but Lola says "No". And since its her car, I don't think she will be doing stripes. Thanks though.

The girls seem to really like my hawaiian stripes. It would look really nice on the hyper blue.

Then it will look cool and not so girly that you can't still drive it.

Eddie is home safe and sound. Joe McCormick at Ottos was A-1 with getting everything together.

YEah, but I will have my work cut out for me...a 12 mile ride home from the dealership and they already had a coating of brake dust.

Welcome to the never ending world of dusting/cleaning MINI white wheels.

Apply a coat of wax to those babies to make cleanup easier and also wash 'em at least once a week to prevent brake dust build up. Otherwise it will be very hard to get that junk out.

*very thick coat of wax :P

It REALLY stinks here in Richmond where it rains almost every weekend. Although i wash the whole car every week, (except for that center strip of the roof where i'm too short to reach) I need to get better about cleaning the wheels... but i put on 500 miles a week. The brake dust cakes up QUICK :P

You should think about getting some Green Stuff break pads. Very low break dust and they will last longer with all the driving you do.

Greens might be a sood to be upgrade if the dust gets out of hand.

I plan on taking the wheels off and claying and waxing them over the weekend.

I had EBC pads on my miata. I loved them. But i'd rather take the time to wash my wheels than spend money for pads when mine are new. I have to be lazy since i worked on every repair on my last car myself (with the help of some male muscles :P) And i thought warranty would give me a slight "break." Instead, everytime i take it in, a PART "breaks" :P
