R50/53 My Favorite MINI
My Favorite MINI
I almost named this thread "The Best MINI", but I thought that might be over the top. (but only a little
)
Just got these pics of our MINI (thanks to Martha and Matt at MINI of Charleston!)... we pick it up tomorrow morning.

Special thanks to my own Little Red, for everything...
and to the entire NAM community (for putting up with me), especially agro (for feelin' my vibe on the grille -- ain't it sweet?), Coop d'etat (for the grille -- literally), lagston (for the dechromification love -- I'll get there eventually), glassdarkly and ZAKdog (for the tint advice), KiLO and mini d (for what I'm fixin to do to the taillights, once I get my hands on it)... and, last but not least, MiniRed, for sharing the pain and joy of MINIphilia in Savannah!

Awwww, shucks!!!
Only 18 more hours to go... you're in the home stretch! The car looks awesome!!! You made a great choice on color!
So make sure to park it on Madison Square for me on Monday morning, so I can see it in person, okay? Of course, who are we kidding, you HAVE to drive it to work on Monday to show it off to your crew. And one last touch of MINI-mania, make sure to wear red that day to show "oneness" with your new baby!

Hey Davn8r, good luck on the pickup this AM! I pick up my own MCS in 5 or 6 days, so I share your excitement.
My wife and I spent last Christmas in Savannah, BTW. We stayed at a great little inn along Forsyth Park, and really loved all the architecture & layout of the town. Lots of great places to eat, too.
Again, best of luck.

The car is... of course... awesome. What fun! Thanks for sharing my joy.
We did have the dealer correct the horrible problem with the logo on the steering wheel, you crazy kids!
The frustrating thing, though, is that every time I hit a twisty, the logo on the steering wheel gets ****-eyed on me again. Hmmmm.... what to do about this?
I bet folks who live in Nebraska don't have this problem.
Seriously, it was more fun that I'd even imagined. A few quick thoughts before I go out to stare at (and, yes, maybe come up with an excuse to drive) the car:
[ ] There's a delivery checklist posted somewhere here. I'll try to add the link shortly, for those who are still awaiting delivery. [Note: I feel your pain... BUT NOT RIGHT NOW.
] It was very, very helpful to me. My "delivery experience" was not what I would call pleasant, but the car transcends all of that. The checklist (which some of you may find absurd, I know) was just very, very helpful, and that's all I care to say on the topic for now.
checklist link, thanks to MoneyPenny:

[ ] The parcel shelf rocks.
[ ] In the absence of The Dragon, Savannah's beautiful squares (mentioned in a post above) are an awesome place to play with a new MINI!
[ ] Please petition your particular deity on my behalf, that I may not extricate myself from a parallel parked situation in 6th gear (where, for another day or so I will still expect to find "reverse").
Finally... WOW! How fun!!!! I love NAM, and I love my MINI. (maybe not in that order...
