I just put my order in for a MY03 MCS on Jan 2nd. Just wanted to introduce myself. I feel a bit of a rebel, because I just cancelled my order for a Honda S2000 in order to order the Cooper S. Although I feel the S2k is more satisfying in a pure driving sense, the Cooper S is 95% as satisfying, however much more practical on a daily driver basis.
I am currently driving a '93 BMW 325i 5-speed, which I still absolutly love, and is for sale, btw (check out its' website  )

"in the folder" for March build, my MCS is IB/W with sport (no stripes, white wheels), cold pack, OBC, H/K, and cruise.

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryephile: Welcome!

There are a couple of S2000 converts to the MINI on this forum I know of, MCO founder mferguson and MCO member ficcion.

BTW, I think I have the highest mileage MINI Cooper S on the forum with 18,000 miles.

Dave

Hello Ryan, I had a 2001 S2000, and it was very fast and handled very well. As the present owner of a 2202 MCS, I can tell you the MCS is not as fast, handles BETTER, and is more practical. Have no regrets!

Ron: what color was your S2k? Good to hear I'm not the only convert here

I test drove the Cooper S three times! before deciding I needed to have one.

That must have been a tough decision.
A....REAL tough decision.
I've posted in an earlier post that if knew up front that the S2000 was only 10k more than my MCS I would have bought the S2000. I've driven both and too be honest they are like apples and oranges. There are definately different TYPES of cars.
I think the MCS is a great choice, and I agree with you assessment as stated above by you.
I wish in years to come that MINI can offer the quality that is standardin the S2000.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..
T.he MCS is a 20k car w/ 5 k worth of extras that's makes it quite a nice deal for the money.
BUT....
It's still a 25k car. IMHO this is an inexpensive car.

The S2000 or the Z4 are .....are of better quality and truly a different price range....

I can certainly add 15k or so to my MCS,,,,aftermarket exhaust systems, brakes, areo kits, rims, flywheels ,pulleys, air intake, chip upgrades etc....but it will still be a 25k car w/ addon's.

I want a 40K MCS.....
I want a MCS that is built like a M3

Just MHO

The end of the story is I OWN A MCS

Peace,
D

Hello!!

I'm always happy to see another Michigan MINI...or rather a future MIchigan MINI

You should check out the Midwest forum of this site, there's a bunch of Michigan MINIs already. My MINI is a lot like yours. Indi Blue seems to be the most popular so far in Michigan. I guess it kinda matches the License Plates.

Did you order from Motor City MINI?

Again, welcome to MCO

letsmotor: you went all out on the extra's with your MCS; looks great! I love the Indi with white wheels, it's hot stuff.

I ordered my car from Motor City Mini. I can't say the color matches my license plate, I have the Mackinaw bridge one

Again, thanx much for the welcoming!

Shoot! I'm up to 209,365 hours, but I've been saying "POIT!"
Does that mean I have to start over?

um, guys, I can handle the "Narf" thing, but the round of beer will be limited to my local Metro-Detroit MCS buddies.

Welcome! I like the choice of color for your Mini. I did not order because I just COULD NOT WAIT to own one after I got to drive it.

A friend has a 2002 black S2000, when he drove my MSC he was stunned at the way it handled (not mentioning the build quality)... His emmidiate comment was: Fancy an exchange? Head to Head...
Although the S2000 is a few $k more expensive than my MCS, but vey proudly... I declined the offer
