Hard lessons to learn, but fortunately nothing bad came of it, aside from the embarrassment.. though that's more honorable than, say, running out of gas. We all had a good giggle at the instructor who borrowed his wife's car for a run session since he'd wrecked her track car at the previous event. He didn't check the tank before he went out... so the rest of us merrily waved to him sitting off-track waiting for the session to end. His wife won't let him forget it <grin>
And since we're sharing pics... always remember to bring your sunscreen; otherwise, the helmet-monster will, uh... eat your head.

It's cold out, but the Mini heats up way quicker than all the other cars in the fleet. How do they do it? Defroster clears up the windows really quick, too. And the heated seats were a good investment!
Happy Holidays to all, and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Red

Wow it's almost been two years since MINIHOLLAND started The April Club
I've got 26,800 on MM2 now. Let's do a mileage check; how many miles have you motored (yes Red, we know it's still under 10k, lol
)
Cheers!

I'm just under 25,000. Tried to get an appt for 25k service, and have to wait 3 weeks. Something about the recall.
I also procrastinated to long. H-sport had springs on sale for $192. I went to order today, and they went back up to $228.

Burnie's at 23,662 and looking forward to many more happy miles in '05
Best wishes to all for a great new year...I hope to become more of a poster and less of a lurker this year...but we'll just have to wait and see about that!

How did you guess? Only 180 miles to go to 10k! But I am leading on visits to the dealer.
Let's see, 25k on the company car, 1k on the old convertible and only 6k on the MINI this year. Since I don't get a chance to use it that often, it is a blast every time I get in it.
Hope you all have a Healthy and Happy Motoring New Year.

MILES MOTORED:
MM2: 26,950
Asodestrom: 24,900
Burnie: 23,662
Red: 9,820
I'll have 29,000 after this weekend... my Mini apparently greatly enjoyed the huge snowfall last weekend, though it was without me (I was in Ohio trying on wedding dresses... can it get more girlie than that?!).
Anyone else get anything for their Minis for the holidays?
Happy New Year!

Pretty soon Ryan's post number will exceed my mileage.
Better get rolling.regards,

In a rather interesting twist of fate, my mom (yes my real mother) has just ordered an '05 MCSc, Dark Silver with #2, #3, MFSW, and "small" exterior chrome pack with 2-tone 'ette and anthracite. She just put the order in with Julie at Classic MINI, and is slated for mid-April '05 delivery! I think I might be just as excited as she is!
here's a quick-n-dirty from the configurator:

Anybody else out there expecting delivery in April '05?
Wow, third model year of this thread now

Okay, Ryan, your mother is just *way* cool!
Mine still thinks I'm going to die every time I get in the car. Bigger is better (as long as it's not an SUV!).
Just got back from the first of two winter driving schools for the season. Took the S4 since I had a hankering for 4-wheel power drifts on the skid pad. SO much fun! New Hamshire hasn't had a lot of snow this year, so sadly we did a lot of practicing on glare ice (wheeeee! Motto for the school: if you can't stick it, slide it). Next time (February), I'll try to take the Mini. The only problem is the mountain pass to get there - tricky in a front wheel drive car.

I must agree...that is way cool...and the perfect person to lead the 3rd generation of CWFAC. Will she be helping everyone track cars and tabulating all the stats for the group??
That's also the second (that I know of...) 2 generation MINI family in the April club as my Dad, still hip at 71, is the proud owner of Zippee--a DS/B 02 MCS he bought used back in November!
I guess maybe cool is genetic!
cheffie
BTW--are we placing bets on when Ryephile's mom passes Red in miles motored???

Thanks buddies  I've already planted the "modding" seeds
; as she lives in the 'burbs of Denver, she'll need some engine mods to get back the power lost from that high elevation. However, we're planning on picking the car up a few days before this year's MINI's on the Dragon. Still tenative, but she wants to drive with the Midwest Caravan down, and hang out at The Dragon/Fontana Village with us MINIac's, then trek the cabrio back to Denver, too fun! Yes, I'd bet she'll have more miles in the first few weeks of ownership than Red has in two years!
Cheffie - cool to hear about your Dad getting a MCS!
If ya can't stick it, slide it (on the salt roads here),

I might actually replace my bumper come spring, too... I'm still trying to confirm that the '05 bumper is a direct swap for the '03 (just some detailing differences as near as I can tell).. I swear that a shop might be able to repair the old one well enough to use as a 'spare'. It's only got one hole in it - no cracks. And the bandaid still survives! Still haven't hit 30k... getting awfully close, though.
Is it a *bad* thing when you're scheduling your wedding events around track events?
Rachel, still trying to kick the flu.

It's just going to be tough when your Mom eventually passes me.
Very cool that your Mom is keeping the club alive.BTW, just got mine back from the dealer for a new driver's door window regulator and motor. (They pick up and deliver) Bet if you added the flatbed miles, I would have you all beat.
Maybe combined. But that is not exactly "fun" miles"
regardless,
Red

Sure like to know what you think of them.

Actually, I was notified of a new MINI performance shop whose owner
offered a great deal on some springs. I have some money in my pocket right now and I plan to "spring" for them soon.
Yes Rachel, Weddings and track days go hand in hand. The "spring" money I have is a direct result of someone's wedding as is most of my tracking money.
Wedings are a good thing

New toys for Burnie...
Well I finally wore down my brake pads enough to justify replacing them...now Burnie's got his Greenstuff pads at last. I also went ahead and added cross-drilled rotors (Zimmerman) and s/s brake lines front and rear. I'm very happy with the bite and pedal feel on the street...looking forward to pushing them a little harder to see how they feel.
So is this how the modding sickness begins???
Hoping to do the pulley and CAI next, but that could be another 6-12 months
Andy, can you teach me how to get cash out of a wedding without getting married again? My wife would probably prefer that I not start bringing new spouses home to finance my MINI habit!
Best to all!
