Tatt - I don't want my locks to be automatic, and they aren't. Thanks anyway, but no thanks. One remote press would be nice...

Hehe, I surmised that, and I was just razzin' ya (i crack me up). The part about not being able, thru programming, to get the remote to one-click open everything though, was sincere.

Good Luck,
Tatt

I believe i read somewhere saying that the auto unlock after the engine is shut off available after 04, and the auto unlock after key is removed from ignition was for 06 only.

2006 MCS(3 weeks old), unlocks when you REMOVE the key. Just turning the ignition off does not unlock the doors.

My 06 MCS had auto unlock when i picked it up without asking for it, i like it except that you have to have the car turned off and the key out of the ignition for it to unlock, and often times i open my door before i remove the key, so i find myself still doing the double pull from time to time. Funny thing is my dad's 05 JCW MCS doesnt have the auto unlock and after seeing my car he wants it now.

Brucka,

I have an 06 drop top and have this enabled. I remove the key and one pull and I am out. The key has to be removed from the ignition for this to activate the unlock.

Are you sure its not as soon as you remove the key? It seems like everyone else with an 06 the key has to be removed to unlock the doors not just turned to off. Including mine. Actually i did it slowly to see each step. So with the car running like i just came home and pulled into the driveway. I turn the key 1 click and the engine and xenons turn off, but the lights and radio are still on. 2nd click to the off position and the radio turns off and the interior lights come on, then when i pull the key out of the ignition the doors unlock.

So did the originator of this thread ever get his Auto-unlock working?

I had my dealer program mine to do this. A big time saver and I think it saves on use on my door handles from being tugged on twice to open a door.

For safety reason I don't want my doors to unlock when I turn off the engine. The resulting sound is an audio alert to tell shady individuals "Hey my car is unlocked! Come get an easy victim!"

No thanks. The 2nd tug on the door handle is not that big a deal.

Hey Guys... this is my first reply/post, I just signed up yesterday! This is the first I have heard about the automatic unlock. I gots to have it!! If I read the threads correct, sounds like this can only be done at the dealer??? Is this the case or can it be programmed by the owner?

That's why it's good that it does not unlock until you remove the key. You can stop, turn the car off, read a book, listen to the radio, all with the doors locked. When you are ready to leave, remove the key and the doors unlock like magic! Wonderful system.

Pull the key out? Mine unlocks as soon as I pull the key to "off". Is this a different setting?

And you have the nerve to call yourself a Maverick!
Fortunately, I don't park in places where I worry about shady individuals, or if I do, I leave the engine running.
When they programmed my alarm the dealer inadvertantly deactivated the unlock on engine off - drove me nuts for quite a while, though I dealt with it. Very happy to have it back now.

Maybe this is an '06 thing? Do the others unlock with the engine off and the key still in?

Mine is an '03 (September 2002 build) and the auto unlock works fine from that day I picked it up.

I just went to the trouble of looking in the Owner's Manual (don't think I've ever read it completely). On page 24 of the 2006 Owner's Manual under the section Central Locking System, it says, "The vehicle is unlocked automatically when the ignition key is pulled out of the ignition switch". This statement does not appear in the 2005 Owner's Manual (available online), so it is probably a new feature for 2006.

On my own car ('06 MCC), it unlocks as soon as I turn off the engine, because there is a programmable option to do that, and I asked my dealer to set it. If I'd known about the new unlock-on-removing-key feature, I might not have bothered to set the option.

this (unlock with key removal from ignition) is an 06 programable option. For those who want unlocking by turning off the ignition, its a programable option.
