Mini is ordered (Miata had new roomie)

Hello all. Bit o'background. I am a Miataphile through and through, if anyone else here goes over to Miata.net, you probably know me (I am a Mod there). My wife, Lola has wanted a Mini since they were announced. Lola always had small cars, a couple of Le Cars, some dubs and a Justy. The Mini is tight up her alley. We ordered him (no name yet) this week at Ottos in West Chester Pa. Joe McCormick was our sales guy, I know Joe from SCCA. We are looking at a June delivery. Specs are as follows:

Cooper
Hyper Blue
White top/mirrors/wheels
Prem. Pkg
Sports seats
Lapis Blue Leather
Xenons
Spoiler
Chrome int. pkg
Aux input (for Ipod)

I am looking forward to joining the community. BTW, any other Miata owners here?

Hi Phil! You are not alone. I'm a miata.net guy from way back in the days of the 'big list'. ('91B blue w/SC, '92A yellow)

You've got good taste in cars. Yours will be similar to mine, but call Joe and have him add the cold weather package - well worth the $$!

MINI, the other small car.

Hi there.. I'm VoiD from miata.net..
I wish I could have afford both the mini and the miata..
I miss the nimble handling so much. (not saying the mini doesn't handle well.. it just feels a lot heavier)

I still own my 97 Red Miata but it doesn't get driven much anymore. I am on my second MINI. An 03 MC & now my 05 Cabrio I now have the topless fun I enjoyed in my Miata along with the joy of driving a MINI I must say though, I still like driving the Miata

Hey Deb, VoiD.

Know you guys well, especially you Deb . Lola doesn'r want the heated seats, so no winter package . Its not my car, so no say so there. Whoever picked out teh colors and options got to pay for it...So as the song goes..."What ever Lola wants..".

I am interested in Auto-xing the Mini, if she lets me. I am interested to see which is faster. I may be crazy, but the Mini "feels" like it handles better.

Actually, your car sounds quite a bit like mine, except the type of blue. I do have the heated seats...and love 'em!

I have added some of the r-speed chrome on the interior to customize it. Got the Indi Blue because I didn't want the black interior (mine's a 2003).

But I have the white roof and stripes, too.

Hey, Phil! I was expecting you to make it over here. Just as I said, a Miata and a MINI make fine garage-mates! And, if you have a small garage like we do, there's even a bit of room left over.

Yeah, Julie Hoffman from Otto's suggested the site.

miata and cooper S..... that's my dream car garage

o well, one day... if i win the lottery, two cars that'd be in my garage is a classic mini with mid engine conversion, with nb8c miata (2nd gen) with rensis rotary engine!

of course! if i won the lottery... i'd get a infiniti Q45 for everyday driving too!

'94 white A-pack here (my first new car, and my dream car since the first time I saw a Miata), but I'm losing it for a MCSC. I need a convertible with 4 seats (for family fun) and FWD (for Utah winters), so my Chili Red cabrio should be here in a month.

For all you "I'd love a Miata too" types out there (for track or just for fun?), if anyone is interested in a '94 Miata with 30k miles (yes, 30k miles) on the clock, cheap, give me a shout.

Me Too!

I had seen Eric's name here recently and wondered if it was the the same E.R. from miata.net...now Phil is here, and ZDeb too?

It's "toddrake" from the old days when 'Banter' was the place to be, aka "BrokenCrank" from Roadsterchat, The Dark Side, Powerlist, and GReddy FAQs forum.

My turboed '90 was sold after my daughter was born, and I needed something that could accomodate more than 2 butts!!! It's not an MCS (I couldn't wait for an order) but with modded suspension and grippy Toyos, it corners with the best of 'em.

Nice to see some like minded folks here!

Hey phil good to see you on NAM. It's mike@triplezoom over on the VMG sites!

Having owned both a stock 05 cooper S and a lightly modified 99 miata (koseis, kumho MX's, tein springs, bilstein sports, roll bar, header, exhaust) I think the Mini is a little more tossable and a lot easier to drive faster. Maybe because I'm just used to FWD but I really feel like I can toss the mini around a lot easier then the miata. But that's just my opinion. It's be a fun test to do at an auto-x

I've got a pair, too!

Never got involved in Miata boards but had a hunch I wasn't alone in my love of both. Two cars aren't practical--I only have a single car garage. The do both fit in my driveway! Maybe I should sell the hardtop and clean the garage so at least one gets inside. Heck, if I'm going to that might trouble might as well move!

WOW, I feel like I know a ton of people here! So many familier names.

Ryan,

I have been down to the Gap with the Miata but it was solo and not with a group. I would like to go with a group either Mini or Miata, that will be a interesting conversation with LolaRose. We might have to take both

My garage looks like Mark's, except for the colors (HB 2005 MCS, VR 2004 MSM). I guess we're all slaves to practicality.

Wow, BrokenCrank, too! The Miataphiles invade MINI territory! Hopefully, very peacefully.

I couldn't show a pic of my garage... believe me...it makes ME sick. OK, it is my husband's garage right now. 2 of them... and he "lets" me park the MINI in one (needs tires, so it is in town), and the 10AE is in the one at the river where we are living right now. Summer for me = top down. Besides, Greg "stole" the MINI for his job commute...in the future. One more lease payment and his 540i 6sp goes away, so the MINI will become his main car.

LOTS of Miata folks here! wow!

They make great bed fellows. We have just a one car garage it will be like that Mercury Marinier commercial, we both will be racing home to see how gets the garage first .

Nah. The garage lights are turned off in my shot a reason!

It's fun to see so many others with a MINI and a Miata.
