R50/53 A Get Together For Everyone?
Hey all,
A couple of years ago I used to drive a large Yamaha Cruiser motorcycle and belonged to a huge riding group that really originated from a forum, similar to this one. Someone came up with an idea of meeting in one location, once a year (Over a weekend). It was attended by hundreds. The event grew, and sponsorship evolved (Yamaha Dealers).
I just wonder if there's an interest in that type of thing here? It's really nice to be able to meet one another and put a face to the words that we read daily. Just a thought...

>>Arkansas so far has some of the best roads and a ton of motels in Eureka Springs!! Oh! It is really kwel! Utah is pretty hip too.

Think about it. 1000 MINI's with Zion National park as a backdrop - Utah sounds good also.

I suppose I could drive to Denver for a MINI meet
MINI5280 was already kicking around the idea of helping to organize a South West regional MINI get together in conjunction with SCMM and MINI enthusiasts in Utah.
If there's enough interest from you MCO'ers in coming all the way to Denver, we could take this up at the next MINI5280 board meeting.

Sounds like a cool party goin' down in Florida in March. That's a little far for me to drive from Oregon, but I think Utah for the Western Folk would be cool. Maybe a big get together somewhere in the middle... I wish I had enough time for a trip through the Gap!!
Hmmmmm!
As a new Charter Member of MINI5280, I vote for holding the MAXI MINI MEET in Colorado, even though I live in L.A.! But as I said before, I'll go WHEREVAH....WHENEVAH!!!
I'm all for a BIG Meet. I agree that Pigeon Forge in east Tennessee might make a fine site (They host meets of all descriptions there), but have also heard that Arkansas has some beautiful roads to travel. We need a bunch of folks to sign-in here. As for me, as long as we have something in the summer, I'm game. What we need is some type of forum survey. Who can create it?

Colorado is SERIOUSLY pushing it already...TN or AR are just WAY too far for West coasters. I mean, it's 1200 miles to Denver from Portland OR (1700 from NY). It's Central.
What I feel would unfortunately be the best route would be a separate West Coast and East Coast meet like the Mini folk do each year. One central meet tends to only attract the SUPER hard core (with lots of time off to spare) or those from central US/non coastal. But then you force the central folk to drive very long distances.
I wish we were a smaller country some times, as the feasibility of such an event really isn't possible for all interested. It would really need to be sectioned up, or the people interested just couldn't do it. I know that CO is really pushing it. I mean, 2500 miles for a weekend??

For the east coast folks some of us are looking at doing a meet in April at the Dragon (The dragon has something like 112 turns in just a few miles up the mountain) Try this thread from mini2.com Dragon Run for MINI Dragon Slayers
