R50/53 Tach position.
Tach position.

Perhaps its just me but does anyone else have problems seeing ..2-5K rpm? I took a MCS for a test drive (putting in my order tomorrow
) and while I dont mind only viewing the bottom, and top of the rev counter, it struck me as a bit odd that the stering wheel blocked most of that beautiful instrument!!
Did I miss an adjustment somewhere?

cluster moves up/down with the steering wheel.
I can relate to your issue. I can't see the top of the tach either. I've just adopted an "oh well" attitude about it. I can get a better view if I cram the steering wheel all the way up, but I'd rather have a confortable driving position.

You're not loco...
No, you're not imagining things. I'm 6'1" tall, and I miss the top arc of the tachometer hidden behind the steering wheel. I can adjust the wheel up higher, but then my arms are too high.
It's a balancing act to get the seat bottom far enough away from the pedals without going too far for your legs to reach, while keeping your arms from stretching too far, without the seatback too straight, which raises your head height (my head doesn't touch the roof, but the lowered arm position keeps the top of the tach hidden).
To keep the arms close enough while the legs far enough away, I raise the seat a few pumps and live with the top of the tach being concealed.
I think it's great that the sports seats have so much variability, and I STILL get people who ask how such a tall person can get into such a small car. They're amazed to find out how large it is inside.

I don't see all my tach either, but I see enough. I will say it took me some time to eventually dial in my perfect driving position between the steering wheel and all the seat adjustments. People have questioned the center speedo, the size or the rear-view mirror, side mirrors, etc, but (imo) once you kinda adjust to the car any irksome little quirks seem to float away. The car is just good....give it time.
If you upgrade the air intake to something that allows the sound to be louder then you can shift according to the intake noise and keep your eyes on the road.
Take a test drive in an MCS with the alta intake and you will see what I mean.
As long as you are past the 3000 rpm mark you could shift and as long as you do so before redline you are ok but it's gonna be loud above 6000 rpm.
I'm short so I don't have quite the same viewing problem. I guess it will be solved when we get a heads up display built into the windshield or maybe into my glasses.

The thing is...there isnt much below 5K that I'm really worried about. I'm used to my bikes and track cars having their tach's turned to the left about 90* so that the redline is hit when the needle is straight up and down...that way just a glance is needed to see how close to redline you are.
I guess I'm just a bit suprised that with all of the great design put into this car that they would allow the tach to be covered a bit. *shrug* Guess I'll just have to live with it

I see my rev counter fine.I,m 5'-8",have the seat down all the way,sit fairly upright, and my arms and legs are slightly bent. Not that the tach. matters much,I tend to drive by ear,and it will bounce if ya go to high
I’ve been driving my MCS for a year, and just now I had to go sit in the car to check the tach’s visibility. Sure enough, the top half inch or so is blocked by the steering wheel - I’d never been aware of it before. Like lot15 I tend to drive by ear - my eyes are outside watching the road, other vehicles, and suicidal animals.
I can't see the top of tach either and I'm 5'4". It doesn't matter about your height as it is about how you adjust the seats/wheel. My seat is set at the lowest position, back quite straight (my arms are slightly bent), wheel low & level. Being small, my biggest concern is sitting far enough away from the airbag while maintaining a correct driving position...and this hasn't been a problem in my MCS.
I agree with the others that said it...I don't really look at the tach (and if I do, I can see enough), I go by sound and feel.

It has taken me over 2 months to find a comfortable driving position, and I'm not sure I'm at it yet! I really struggled with not seeing the 4 on the tach, but I am ok with it now. Not having my arms reaching up to the wheel helps in the twisties.

Get the Chrono Pkg
I have the same issue with seeing the top of the tach. If seeing the entire tach is a priority, order the Cockpit Chrono Pkg. This move the tach to a position where it is entirely visible. The downside is that when the speedo is moved to the steering column, it then becomes the visibility problem, with the top right blocked by the wheel. In my case, I tend to use the digital speed readout more than the regular gauge, anyway.
Bounce? What bounces?

Keep the gas pedal down, and dont shift at redline. Your tach will "bounce" due to the rev limiter. Its a bit scary if youre not used to it. Basically the ECU will limit the fuel and spark to an engine so that you can not over-rev the engine.
BTW on my trip back to mini to order my MCS this past saturday I adjusted the seat a bit more, and the wheel to match and found a happy medium that let me see most of the tach while still having a good driving position.
