I have now been a proud MINI owner for two weeks today! *applause and bow* (yet I still stall her once a day...yikes ) So even thought I haven't had MINI too long, I have to deal with someone's comment at least once a day. I know everyone else must have to put up with it as well. I was wondering what others have heard from our wonderul "fans". I have heard three really good ones since I bought my MINI:

4. How do you fit in that thing? (btw: I'm 6'4&quot

3. (drunk man) How much did that thing cost...?? $40 thous? (my response, "yeah.&quot

2. Did you order it like that? (referring to my UJ roof)

...and the number one comment of the week -

1. Did that car come from England, or is that just drawn on their like that? (once again, re: the UJ roof. My response: Yeah, it's from England. Here's your sign.)

I like CAR magazine's response to the "is it electric?" question when they were asked that about their SMART car while driving it across the U.S.: no, it's nuclear.

Another one of their answers to the "electric" question: no, it runs on petrol
confused american: Oh, is that some kind of earth friendly gasoline?

The best one I have heard - from another thread - was...

Stewart Little called and he wants his car back!
Damn, wish I had thought of that!

...and I'm not joking....

"Oh how cute! I didn't know they made a 2 door PT Cruiser!!"

At least she liked it, even though she couldn't tell the Empire State building from a backwater shack.

My best...

"Is that a Suzuki?" Gah!

and from the same guy... "My Protege5 could kick its a$$." Then he went on to say how he's modifying the engine to like 230 hp, and putting on a new suspension. Well of course it'll beat my 8.3ish 0-60 in my Cooper. I only have 119 hp (K&N, I estimate)! Dolt.

My best:

My friend Jay on Tuesday night when I came back from the swanky football function to pick up my car...

"Don't you have to pull it back a couple times before you go.....you know until it makes that clicking sound?"

Several months ago at a convenience store stop...a gentleman walks up admiring my MCS and during the conversation mentioned that the car was a bit overpriced in his opinion...so I asked him why, and he said he had heard on FOX News that the base price for the MC was $60,000 and $90,000 for the MCS...I told him that he misunderstood the news report and it was 16 and 19 respectively...in hindsight, I should have let him walk away thinking I was sitting in a $90,000 car...

I get this every day..
"What Car is that"
>> Its a mini
"A What"
>> A MINI ( Little louder)
"An who make's it"
>> BMW
" I get it Its a Mini BMW"

I hate all of those non civilized folks that never see a mini before, Get real how many of you miss a Mr. Bean Show, or the movie the great robery, or even better, All the publicity you see in every news papper and (At least here in the Try State Area) all the banners in every mayor interstate.

Shortly after getting my Pepper White MINI with a black top and mirrors I tinted the windows with charcoal color tinting, pretty dark (35% on the doors and 20% on the rears), as I was driving down the street toward my house I could see my wife and a neighbor sitting in the front yard and the neighbor commented to my wife that the MINI looked like a double stuffed Oreo cookie on wheels .

The best one that I have heard (or read) was in one of the car mags, I beleive Motor Trend:

While the magizine drivers were at the gas station filling up, a woman, probably a blond (sorry couldn't resist), asked if it was "one of those new electric things"

If you don't get it, read it again.

Okay, for those mentally challenged: a eletric car at a gas station?

Once I am lucky enough to get mine, and some askes me what it runs on,
I think I will tell them it runs on the new "Improbability Drive"
Let them try and figure that one out!

I bought a bookcase last weekend. I asked about delivery, and I was asked what kind of car I had. I said 'Mini Cooper' He did not know what it was, and he asked if it had a hatch, I said yes, and he said oh it will fit. I brought my car around and his comnent was 'You were not kidding, it is Mini.' The bookcase did not fit and I am getting it delivered.

How many of you get a smart-*** comment from your friends and then a sheepish..."Um, mind if I take it for a spin?"

Those of you who have had your MINIs for a while, have you noticed the volume of comments/questions declining? I have . Not that it's a problem to me, but I did get a lot more questions (the electric one ... once at a gas station ... was particularly entertaining) and "looks" about 3 months ago than now. I'd say it's only about once a week or so now that someone asks me what kind of car it is, or "How do you like that thing?"

That last comment is a bit telling, as my theory is that there are enough MINIs on the roads now so that they're appreciated, but readily recognized. Like a friend of mine told me the other day... "A lot of people in town have your car!" She was commenting on the fact that in her town (north of Boston) there are easily a half-dozen MINIs (by my count).

I'd say that about the only place where my MCS is sure to draw attention now is in Middle and High School parking lots (I work a lot at schools). It still drives the 13 - 18 set wild...boys as well as girls.

Yeah but remember most electric cars are hybrids and still use gas...

Still get constant looks and stares and lately, the questions have been increasing! I'm literally stopped almost everyday - leaving a parking lot without answering questions has become an impossible task!

I must also say, what's up with your friends??? I only receive positive comments and praise from friend and foe alike (or at least friends and strangers).

My top 4 questions are the following:
4). Do you get the rest of it when its paid for?

3).Did you wash it in hot water and it drew up?

2). Did it come with a mowing deck and bagger?-(My boss--I work for FORD)

1).Do they supply you with boxes so you can send it back for repairs when it tears up?

I started getting comments about size before it was even delivered. My brother wanted to know if it was being shipped UPS or FedEx. He calls it a Mr. Beanmobile. But all in good fun.
