Is the OEM "White out roof" see through?

I was looking through the Mini accessories catalog and noticed the OEM "white out roof" option on page 35 (list $95). I am very interested in this if it tints the glass to be darker but still allows you to still see through it.

Does anyone out there have this? If you do I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me the inside story on it, so to speak, thanks

Eval,

I saw a MINI S at my dealer that had the white out installed and it did make it darker but light did pass through. I am thinking of putting it on or maybe even the checkerboard that is available too.
Let me know if you do this...I am curious what you think.

Thanks!

I am not sure if it is the same thing but I saw one at Irvine Mini that had a perforated texture.

Thanks for the replies - I'm wondering if both of you saw that it looked perforated (vs just tinted) and how did it look? It sounds like it might not look very good; a trapped in a strainer dotty look to the roof doesnt sound appealing

I do not believe the OEM one is perforated. However, you can get the perforated one from cooperflags and decrease the sunlight while still being able to see through it.

I have a union jack perforated flag from cooperflags and it is great.

Edit: after 9 months, my cooperflags sunroof flag began disintegrating and I had to remove it. The new owner of the company would not offer a replacement.

I has this put on my CR/W 05 and like it, but if you want to see out then it's not for you. I don't like the sun shining down on me when I drive (but I love riding my Harley, go figure ). The OEM tint was not dark enough for me, but I wanted the sunroof. I do open it occasionally, but wanted the white roof, more than a 'moon' roof. So we had the new white roof option installed. I love it so far. Hope it keeps off the heat of the day here in FL this summer.

I've attached 2 photo's, one was from the day we picked up MiamiMini, and the other one was from after the new top was added.

Thanks again everyone Guess I won't be getting the OEM piece.

I also considered getting it tinted but having the roof made white to match seemed appealing; I'm just not sure I want the perforated look..
