Today is the first day I've driven in rain with my MINI(I'm in SoCal). Tonight while sitting at Starbucks I looked at my driving lights (rally lights) and noticed that they were a bit fogged up. I can't imagine that this is normal. Has anyone else had this problem?

Skrutzen, it seems to me you have a defective rally light. I would return it and get a new replacement. Good luck.

Mine fogs in a very hard rain. I have replaced the lamp once and it still happens in very hard rain or fast temp drops.

I wouldn't sweat it. Turn your fog lamps on for about 30sec and it's gone !

I looked at them this morning and the rally lights are still fogged up although not as much as last night. The patch is about 2" in diameter on each light. I'm thinking maybe if I leave the lights on for a bit it'll clear up. If not then I will definitely get them replaced. Thanks everyone for you input...much appreciated!

I don't think these things are really waterproof. One of mine was broken (by a F-250

I washed my car with a pressure washer and noticed both lights were fogged up when I was done. The next day they were dry. Still work fine, so I am not too concerned.

skrutzen,

Take a look at the install. The factory includes some shrink wrap to encase the wires going into the bottom of the light. If this was heated too long, and really shrunk around the wires, there is enough room for water to get into the inside of the lamp. I use just the wrap and push it into the light without shrinking it - it fits nice and tight that way. There is a fix: take some rubber from a black work glove, cut it to size, and wrap it around the wire insert into the bottom. This requires you taking the light apart, but it isn't that hard to do.

If you are still having problems, send me an e-mail. I'd be glad to help you work it out.

Randy
