anthracite headliner w/o sunroof

Any thoughts, opinions, experiences would be great. Have to finalize my order tomorrow on a Pepper White Mini with black roof. I'm leaning towards not getting a sunroof. I'm just not sure I like all that light streaming in--call me weird, but I kind of like the enclosed feeling of an actual roof. Anway, I think a dark interior would look great with the PW so plan to get Anthracite interior with chrome interior details and black leathette seats. I'm tempted to get the Anthracite headliner for a deep rich feeling throughout the interior and add to the contrast of PW to black. But will this just be too DARK? Also, dealer says he thinks the dark headliner will be hot (meaning in temp) but I live in San Francisco which is a chilly town year round. What do some of you think? Anyone done the black/black headliner without a sunroof? Thanks!

Call me crazy, But I just don't get all the hoopla surrounding the Anthracite headliner. I also have a 2002 Cooper CVT in Pepper White/Black with no sunroof and trust me, you should stick with the standard headliner because the car is going to look too dark in the interior and too claustrophobic, but hey that's my opinion.

My '05 MCS (Due in 3 weeks) was ordered with the anthracite dashboard (As I had it in my '04 MCS), no sunroof and standard headliner. Sweet combo.

I am not into sunroofs either, so now that makes us 2 weirdos!

I'm no fan of sunroofs either. I'll be getting the Anthracite headliner as well, so I guess we can compare notes when we both have our cars!

I say if you are getting the trim in Anthracite then get the headliner as well. Nothing wrong with a dark interior. My PH/B 05 MCSa will have Anthracite Trim & Headliner.

I don't see how the antrhacite headliner could make that much of a difference with heat. I've never seen the anthracite headliner in person so I can't comment on how much darker it would look/feel. I can say that I have a black roof without a sunroof and it doesn't get any hotter than any other car I've had. The cabin seems to cool quickly with the windows down too. My wife and my MA thought I was nuts for not getting the sunroof. I couldn't be happier. Well, okay, if I had the checkered roof graphic I might be happier...

I have anthracite interior and headliner without the sunroof and I highly recommend it. The interior is very rich looking, really classy. I didn't get the sunroof due to the extra weight up top, plus just thought it would end up being another thing that could go wrong.

After experiencing the anthracite interior and seeing the standard, I would definitely recommend going all anthracite. Chrome interior will look very nice with it too.

Anthracite Headliner

I heartily second 05DSMCS (except I have a sunroof on my 05 CR/B MCS w/CR&chrome interior) and it looks classy as heck. It even moved Randy Webb to a resounding "wow" First he'd seen .

My car would look awkward with a light headliner. JB

This thread should create lots of debate.

I am waiting for mine, ordered JB/checkered roof MCS, anthracite dash but standard headliner. I was concerned that the dark headliner would be too closterphobic. My other issue was that the darker A pillar was too much contrast and a distraction while driving. Guess I find out soon.

Now that I think about it, my car will have a lot of black and white going on, so the light headliner might work. But a PW/B might be better with the anthracite headliner.

So basicly, I'm no help.

I love the way the anthracite headliner looks, I saw it in a few cars at the dealer and it looks so amazing that I ordered my new car with it.

I say go for it, I think it'll look awesome.

I got mine with the anthracite headliner and no sunroof and I love it. I think the dark headliner looks much better than the regular one. As far as sunroof goes, I mainly didn't get it so I'd have more headroom. But you also have to worry about leaks later on, adds weight, and I think the Mini sun protection for the sunroofs is currently pretty sad.

I have the anth. headliner and no sunroof as well, and I am very happy with it. I love how the headliner makes everything in the interior mesh together, I love how it makes it _feel_ more enclosed, I love how different it is, and after seeing the regular headliner on other cars, I love the novelty of it.

Regarding your questions, I got the car in Jan, so I don't know if it will make the car hotter or not. I would find that hard to believe as it would be tough for sunlight to be reflected up into the headliner to be absorbed, but I am not a scientist or anything.

I went without the sunroof because I deemed it an option I would have liked but not missed. Chaching, saved money.

Here's a pic:

I say go for it! Also, keep in mind that you can put the darkest tint on the sunroof, or, heck, paint black, that way, you can still get some air (great for those times when you need to run the heat, but keep the air flowing, so it does not get stail inside the car). My 2 ¢
