R50/53 What you paid for your MINI?
What you paid for your MINI?
Well first I wanted to say a hello and compliment everyone here for a great website and a very insightful and informative bunch of poster. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks now and figured I would say hello.
So onto my first of many questions.
I know this question varies across the board with the million different options and configurations and regional but wanted to get a rough idea of what I can expect to pay for a 2005 Mini Cooper S.
I have a 2002 BMW 325Ci now and am looking for a little change.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Like you said it really varies from person to person. Use the MINI Configurator on the MINI USA website. It gives an accurate quote for the car since every dealer is at least MSRP. You won't find dealers discounting MINI's. West Coast folks can get screwed because some of those dealers are marking the cars up over MSRP by as much as 7%.
I paid $24,020 for my 05 MCSa with the added options: anthracite headliners, front and rear fogs & xenon headlamps.
I paid $24,020 for my 05 MCSa with the added options: anthracite headliners, front and rear fogs & xenon headlamps.
My new '05 MCS, as ordered from the factory, came out to exactly $22,850 MSRP before taxes and fees. Here is a rundown on the equipment:
Chili Red/White roof
Harmon Kardon Stereo
6-speed Manual transmission.
3-spoke Steering wheel with audio/phone buttons and cruise control
Front and rear fog lights
ASC+T
16" Silver V-spoke wheels
Chrome exterior package (Front grille, chrome mirror caps, chrome boot handle)
Anthracite trim
Leatherette seats
Trip Computer
Rubber Floor Mats
Convenience Package (Remote garage/gate opener, Automatic headlights, Self dimming rear view mirror and rain sensing wipers).
That's about it. The dealer threw in the Union Jack roof flag decal and the MINI iPod integration adaptor FOR FREE!
The car will be here in about 2 weeks. It was completed at the Oxford factory on February 19th

Agree!
If you're on the west coast expect to pay window plus ($$) and watch out for $500 floor mats and other dealer extractions. The other side of the country seems to pay closer to window sticker and some even get a few goodies with the car. I'm in Nevada and bought a nicely equipped 04 MCS in W. Virgina for window + $300! .................mgg (MTR ON)

Sometimes... if you're really lucky, you can find a Demo model from a dealership with super low mileage at a discount. I picked up my 2004 MCS which was actually not a demo but was being driven by the dealership's owners son, with less than 5000 miles on it. Sticker was discounted by a little over $2,000 USD. Not to mention that because it was classified as demo I didn't have to pay Freight, PDI or the A/C Tax. Once it was all added up including the sales taxes I would have paid on the discounted amount I saved close to $4,000.
I can pay to look around.
Macman.

MSRP with free floor mats from MINI of Nashville. MSRP and free floormats and other goodies are available from Classic. MSRP with immediate delivery used to be available from MINI of Salt Lake.

I paid a nice $2K mark-up but I frankly couldn't care less. No waiting, no hassle. I walked in to Irvine BMW/MINI and walked out with an '05 MCS w/ premium package and some other goodies, with markup at around 27 or so. I added LoJack (dumb move) and bonnett stripes which boosted the cost a bit. All told, with tax, title, license, mark-up, and such it was like 31K.
Don't give a damn though. I can not wait to leave for work to drive my car, even if its only like 5 miles, and I can not wait to do the same home. I actually look forward to driving anywhere and everywhere because of the car. It just a joy.

Wow
I guess I should have probably gotten something in writing from my dealer. I'm starting to get nervous about picking up my MINI next month. They told me sticker, but I have read about the "paperwork fees, prep fees etc..
They, (the dealers) are getting around 1700 over invoice per car at sticker which is pretty darn good! I guess if demand is high enough they can extract more. But let's face it, if you feel like they gouged you, you're probably not going back. So, it is really in their best interest to be fair.

thank you for the replies guys. I am on the East coast. NJ and CT. I am looking to pay 25K max with taxes and everything out the door. I didnt realize the cars were selling for sticker and no less.
I know I definitley want navigation, premium pack, front and rear fogs, sports pack, cold weather, (DSC and or LSD), Definitely stick, and xenons.
Some other maybes are HK system, anthractitit headliner.
Will most likely choose a non metallic color to save some money there.
From all your experiences any of these options you can do without or somet that definitley should be there that I have missed?
thanks

28,500 for my Mini Cooper S conv as optioned below. I've financed it, so with interest it will come out to about 32,000 when all said and done. They threw in floor mats. The dealer has a bunch of premium services too (pick-up of car and drop off loaner, etc). All in all I think it was fair considering the market.
Bought all 3 from Classic MINI
Purchased all 3 from Julie Saxa @ Classic MINI in Mentor, Ohio, then shipped them to Califoirnia via Concours Transport. All were at MSRP, with 20% off on all parts and accessories.
Just ordered MINI #4 from Julie, a MCS Cabrio with automatic trans. Again, paid MSRP, plus receiving a full tank of gas, rubber floor mats, Euro Parcel Shelf, and glovebox organizer as a part of the bargain. Anyone looking to beat the high cost on MINIs in CA & the west coast should call Julie @ Classic.

If you buy on the east coast, expect to pay MSRP, (what the MiniUSA website quotes) plus taxes.
I have an Oct 04 build '05 MCS.
Added Prem and Sport and AUX input.
Paid 25,875.01 including taxes and prep, (595.00).
Shop around and compare, you will be suprized what you find.
As for the service, most dealerships will tell you that they take better care of their customers that buy the car from them. My advice is don't loose the MINIUSA phone number. If you have a problem with the dealership, call Mini USA right away.
