R50/53 Vanity Plates
Ummm....Somewhere in West Virginia. We had to get on the road and this was the first daylight I had to take the pic of the new trailer. Near Beckley maybe? It was DEFINITELY at a Starbucks...I DO remember THAT....
After I had my Mini a short time, I looked at it, looked at Figgie Snotmonster my Chinese Pug, looked back at the car, and realized that my car and dog aesthetic needs are all aligned. Both are little short, fat, overpowered creatures with big eyes. A few months ago I got a plate recognizing one of my pug's cuter yet disturbing attributes...

Wow! This thread has many great plates and ideas.
When I'm at different MINI events like MOTD or MTTS I usually find myself taking
pictures of all the different tags from different states and I normally concentrate
on the vanity (personalized) tags, you can click here to see one of my Flickr sets.
Here is a picture of my old tag from my days in South Carolina.
Can you figure out the meaning??

I have a new tag on order that will look like the one below when I finally receive it.

I just replaced my '04 LY/B MCS with an '09 CR/B Clubman S. The old plate was BMBLEB, which just didn't work with red. So, I went down to the local RMV to change it. The Massachusetts vanity plate rules are ridiculous; rules include:
1. All vanity plates must start with at least two letters.
2. For cars a maximum of six characters are allowed.
3. Numbers cannot be used in the middle of a plate; they must come at the end. For example, AAA222 would be
an acceptable Passenger vanity plate; AAA22A would not be acceptable. The first number used cannot be a "0."
4. The letters "I," "O," "Q," and "U" can ONLY be used as part of a word that is clearly defined and correctly spelled. For example, "LQQK" would not be an acceptable registration number because it is not a correctly spelled word.
And finally, this question must be answered: What is the significance of this combination of letters and/or numbers?
So I selected MRTOAD (I know, toads aren't red either) because my wife is always complaining that riding with me is like being on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Rather than state that as the significance, I told the RMV that it was "a literary reference to The Wind in the Willows."
And, amazingly enough, I actually got them (finally). It took MINI just over seven weeks from filling out the paperwork at the dealer to delivery to custom build my Clubman. It took the Commonwealth of Massachusetts over 10 weeks to custom build two aluminum rectangles with embossed letters. But I shouldn't complain, they originally told me it would take from 12 to 14 weeks for delivery.

6. Letter and/or number combinations that convey an offensive message or appear to duplicate an existing registration plate are not permitted.

This is how I've always viewed my relationship with my car also.
