Left turn signal on when parking?

I never use this feature , but I had it on my 02 (wrecked). When turning the ignition off, if I left the turn signal on it would keep the left signals burning --apparently a standard feature on a lot of European Cars.

This doesn't happen on my 03? Anybody? Is this a programming thing or is my MINI non-euro equipped?

I believe on my ’04 I have to turn the key off first then use the turn signal. It works for either side.

All European spec vehicles come standard with this feature. I have an 03 MCS with this feature activated. I don't know if this is a software programmable feature. The reason the Europeans have this feature is because the village roads are narrow and it is illegal to park on sidewalks., Yes, both sides work. Not to worry about draining your battery unless you keep it in that condition for a long period of time.

I just went out and checked, and you have to turn the signals off, turn the key off, then turn the signals back on. If your MINI is already off then just turn the signal on and vola the side markers come on. Oh by the way my '04 MINI is a US spec. On another note, (I just figured this out by accident a few weeks ago) I had the “follow me home” lights deactivated at the dealer, and when I was playing with the side marker thing I accidentally, momentarily hit the bright lights, and they stayed on. I thought what-the?? So I flashed them again, nothing happened. So I turned on the park lights and they went off. I flashed them again, they came on and I let it set, and sure enough they go off by them self’s in about 30 seconds. Kinda cool!!

My October build 05 MCS does the Euro turn signal thing, too.

Also the "follow me home lights," but I asked for that to be programmed. You can ask for different time intervals - I think from 30 secs to 2 min? Something like that. Don't use it much, but in a creepy neighborhood, it's a nice feature!
