Clutch pedal was on the floor, couldn't get out of gear

Just as the title states. I couldn't get out of gear. Noticed clutch pedal was on the floor. Turned the car off. Brought the clutch pedal back up with my hand. After that, it was fine for a little bit. I looked at the clutch master and slave cylinder. No external leaks from either one of them. Clutch pedal is dry. No clutch slipping. Or unusual sounds. What should I do from here?

this sounds like an issue with the hydrolics somewhere. is your fluid up to level in the reservoir?

Yes, fluid level is at max level. Never had to add any in the past, either.

A novice guess -
Check your hydraulic reservoir by running your had around the top backside (underneath the cowl). You may find that the plastic reservoir has degraded and not retaining pressure.

These things are made of cheap plastic and common to failure.

Ah. I was thinking perhaps low fluid level + cracked reservoir allowing air into the system.

Car has 72k miles. Clutch was replaced at 30k miles. I run this car hard. Never notice anything up with the clutch.

It could be that an internal seal is blown in the master/slave cylinder, resulting in no external leaks but no pressure on the pedal. Until you fill that void with fluid again.

Although I'm pretty your clutch shouldn't be working after that. Interesting case.

not sure if this helps. But a visual inspection of the clutch master cylinder.

this system only has pressure in one direction. towards the slave and towards the brake calipers. air can enter the system if the res runs dry

Based on the service history, master and slave were replaced at the same time as the clutch. 30k miles, back in 2018.

Yes, I drove it like a mile and it was fine. It does it very sporadically.

Also, the brake master reservoir is full. I've never had to fill it.

there is at least one spring that pushes the clutch pedal back up. one on the clutch pressure plate and maybe on on the clutch pedal. now i cant remember if these cars have one on the clutch pedal?

I think @ssoliman had an interesting thought about a spring.
I already had my knee bolster down so I took an opportunity to snap a pic or 2wo...Possible spring connected to the clutch pedal...
