Speed Sensor issue after Axle/hub change

Morning,
2005 R50 1.6 Manual. Replaced both drive axles, hubs, and speed sensors. Now getting abs / brake and tire warning lights on the dash.
Code reader indicating not getting a signal from both sides// Live data confirms no speed readings from the front wheels.

1. Is there a fuse that powers those sensors?
2.Could it be both new sensors( yes i got them off Amazon )
Help ?

Did you clean out all of the dust and dirt around the spindle opening and the CV joint signal teeth and the sensor opening? Sometimes dirt will prevent a good signal.
Why did you change the sensors? just as a measure since you were "in there"? Try putting one the old sensors back in, clear codes and drive it again to see what happens.

Jeff

The last time I used an ABS sensor from Amazon, it only lasted a few hundred miles. I'd try one of your old ones or get a proper OE sensor.

I went through 3 sets of sensors on my car when I was redoing the whole car and none of them worked. Bought OEM sensors and they've been perfect. I tried URO, Delphi, Bosch and they all gave me trouble.

Back in 2021 - At the time I didn't really know any better the first time I worked on my brakes/hubs and bought these unfamiliar inexpensive brand sensors off Amazon -
Amazon Amazon
Although they're no longer available, I've done 2wo brake rotor and a hub replacement and the darn things still work.
(I just cleaned them up and reused them).
I now subscribe to buying OEM and name brands...
I may have to attribute this to dumb luck(?)

Quality has dropped in the last 5 years - across many things. Parts for older cars - for sure. You do need to be careful. I used NSK hubs and Delphi sensors back in 2021 also. It’s harder to find good stuff now.

I replaced the front hubs on one of my R56 restoration jobs. The car had 151K miles on it, and the front bearings where making noise. After replacement, I got an ABS light. I pulled up wheel speed on my diagnostic tool, and I wasn't getting a signal from the left front sensor. It turned out to be the hub.

There's no fuse for the typical ABS wheel speed sensor, they produce their own voltage.

Problem solved

So I ordered different hubs which specifically said they had the abs encoder built in ( no teeth), and on install still no signal. Replaced the sensor wire with one from a local parts store voila.

I think it was both parts to be honest

FYI if the axle shafts or axle bolts are seized, they do come out the spindle hole. Just cut the boots off and there is just enough room. On the right side, cut the axle as the carrier bearing support wont make it thru. No use fighting with a seized axle when a hub is 50 bucks. IMHO

In any event, all good, car passed safety and I sold it to a friend is happy as can be.
Still have our 2002 Mini with only 76000 KM's.. it will get all the attention it needs.
