I have a case of Gremlins

Electrical that is::

5:15pm on 2/3/05
After about one hour of mixed highway/city driving my wipers began to act funny. During their routine travels to the edges of my windshield, they began to pause at seemingly random spots along they way. The pauses lasted about 1 to 3 seconds a piece. Then, the wipers lost all control, sat back down in their home position and refused to be coaxed out for a cleaning wipe.

At that time, I realized my ACC had turned completely dark (scared perhaps? ) and it too refused my gentle coaxing to turn back on.

After about 10 min of fiddling, lo and behold it all came back on and continued to work in the normal fashion until I got home and drank away my concerns.

7:05am on 2/4/05
Wipers are acting up again, no amount of persuasive baby voice has any effect. ACC is also on the fritz, and the hans. Wiper availability is intermittent at best, working half the time and the other time simply resting. After 18min, the ACC comes back up, blowing a storm of warm air at me (finally) and wipers are back to their good ole selves.

Any ideas? I hate to make an appt with the dealer 70 miles away and refusing to give me a loaner because I bought the car out of state. Heck, I lived out of state when I bought the car. I relocated and my currently closest dealership doesn't take that into consideration, jerks.

My reaction to your post title was "Beats a Box of Chevettes". But as far as your electrical problems, I'm not one to advise. Your post did give me the first smile of the morning however.

sounds like quite the problem. i'd say take it to the dealer. whether they like it or not, it's their responsibility to fix something like this. BTW, ur title says Rochester, is that NY or some other state (rochester MI is just down the road from my house), just curious

You should still get a loaner. I bought mine out of state, too, and have gotten loaner at the local shop. Shouldn't matter as they are doing the work under warranty.

just take off the wipers completely!

Then, whenever your windows get dirty, just pull over to a gas station and squeegy them off. Gives you many GREAT opportunities to show off your baby. Though, i suppose its not that impressive, and somewhat imbarassing to have no wipers on a new car and instead, to studs sticking out of the cowl. Just say they are battery terminals on the outside for super-convenience! That will just BLOW their minds; they wont know WHAT to think!

at least its not syphillis

Rochester is in New York, at least my Roc is. I think there are a few others hiding about the country.

Hmmm, taking off the wipers? Never considered that. That just may solve a few of my problems.

It does of course, still leave me with a semi-functioning (like my alcoholic father) air con system. That sir, I will not stand for.

I've tried for a loaner before, SA jerk tells me the loaners are only for those who have purchased the car at said location. I've already called MINI USA to no avail. Next I plan on gently harassing the Sales Manager and Service Guy together. I was thinking of getting an 05 with the LSD and all, but not from these guys if they won't allow me a loaner simply because I was born and raised in another state. Discriminatory bastards

Addendum

I took her out for lunch today (the car, not my stripper girlfriend) and it seems that the power windows are also affected by some nasty version of this::

I was watching the display on my ACC and it appears to cycle on and off. With each change there is a faintly audible click coming from the left of the steering column. this is entirely annoying.

Changing the temperature is getting harder than throwing ping pong ***** into fish bowls at the county fair. aargh in exasperation

and yet another Update

I have an appointment on Monday, well my car has the appointment.

She goes under the knife and the dealership, after gentle cajoling, has offered to have Enterprise meet me there with a rental all courtesy of my warranty coverage.

I'm happy. I just hope my baby comes back to me all healthy
